Word spread amongst their friends quickly of their engagement. They had yet to discuss how to tell, or even if, to tell their respective families. Long ago, they had already decided their true family was each other. Now they had added Natty, Poppy, and it seemed to be developing that Nox would be added to their chosen family as well.

Ominis and Nox had began to talk more often, and they even went on a few solo outings. They would transfigure her to have different hair, less prominent features and placed her in plainer clothes. Iris wasn't sure what they were doing, but she suspected it was finding a ring. They weren't very good at hiding things from her, or maybe she was just good at putting together clues. She had told him that she didn't need a ring, and certainly nothing fancy.

She kept getting owls from Poppy regarding wedding plans, she was very excited to help them plan and insisted that they do it outside since Iris loved nature, and obviously Ominis would do anything for her. She felt happy, and loved. She often got very nervous when she felt happy, especially when she knew there were dark wizards in both of their families who wanted them harm them. She also couldn't stop thinking about the children in the hospital. She hadn't yet gathered enough courage to investigate herself, the hospital still held many sad memories of Anne.

She couldn't stay willfully ignorant for long however. When she was at the ministry doing some research for one of the missions that Ominis and Natty had been assigned, she had walked by the curse breaker office and saw the lights on. She knew that meant they were actually in, and she felt guilty not checking on them. Natalie was there, and she was introduced finally to their other one, a very young wizard named Martin Crouch. He looked nervous, anxious and overwhelmed, Natalie looked exhausted.

"Any new developments on the cursed children?" She asked tentatively, hoping they were sick with something medical not magical.

"Yes Iris, that's why we are both here, it's now taken top priority. It has been deemed as indeed a curse....and now another child has been cursed".

Dread filled Iris' heart. She knew this was a bad omen, and now she knew she needed to tell Ominis. She had waited because she didn't want to get him worked up and remembering Anne's curse unless it was absolutely necessary. She knew she kept his bad memories of everything behind a thin wall in his brain, she was worried something chipping away at it would make it all come crumbling down. She had noticed a crack when they heard about Sebastian being at Ilvermorny.

She told him when they got home that evening, when they were sitting at the fireplace in their study. He grabbed her hands and held very still. It always worried her when he would go still, she knew it was from his childhood. He had learned it's best to be quiet and still to avoid strong reactions. She wondered if he even knew he did it. She noticed Nox did it too whenever she didn't feel comfortable. She sat with him and tried not to push him, or hold her breath. She wasn't the best at being patient.

He finally nodded, and looked at her, she saw pain behind his beautiful opaque eyes. He told her that he would go with her to the hospital after he finished his current assignment. He didn't want her to do that alone. He kissed her forehead and took her to bed.

She awoke in the middle of the night by Ominis tossing and turning. He usually didn't do that, she was usually the one who had nightmares. She put her hand on his shoulder and he grabbed her hand, his eyes were still closed. He was whispering something and she couldn't make it out. She leaned in and kissed his cheek, he then mumbled louder, and she heard what he was saying clearly.

"Sebastian, come back....Sebastian". His voice was urgent and sad. She remembered the way he would do this following Sebastian leaving the first time. Her heart sank, she wasn't jealous, she was simply seeing more cracks showing in his wall. She missed Sebastian too, she truly did. Ominis never knew how much she loved him too, not in the way she did anyway. She kept that hidden, so they could be together. They had been so perfect together. She wrapped her arms around him and cried silently into his chest.
