Aesop Sharp, or Professor Sharp, as his students called him; had a rare goodnights sleep. His prior job as an Auror gave him more than enough nightmare fuel for two lifetimes. He was not happy per se in his current situation, which was teaching school and living in the countryside, but it could have been worse. He smiled wryly, he had a couple students who kept him on his heals, and he did actually appreciate getting to teach those ones. Teach them while scaring them a bit, he just had too of course.

As he actually got decent rest and his leg injury wasn't hurting him as much, he decided to take a morning walk. He walked down the small winding path by his house and surveyed the boundaries of his small parcel of land. He had a few chickens in a coop out back, which he would never admit to....but decided to go check on them before heading in to make breakfast.

His keen senses were immediately in high alert and he rounded the back of his cottage. Something was off, the chickens weren't clucking and there was an odd energy in the air. He readied his wand and looked around. He saw a clump of fabric, he slowly walked over. He could now see the fabric was robes, and that there was a person underneath it. Judging from the smell of burnt flesh and now blood that he could smell as he got closer, he didn't have much hope that this being was alive. He threw the robes back and searched the face. He knew it but he didn't. He was almost beyond recognition.

Sebastian Sallow.

He felt for a pulse, he kept his own calm and emotions guarded. He had a soft spot for this boy, he always had, he should have done more after Solomon died. Ahhh, here is that familiar, soul sucking regret he lived with constantly. He knew the morning was only a brief reprieve.

He felt a small, faint, erratic pulse. He scooped him up, remembered that he was now a man and not a boy. Some sadness touched him. He rushed him in the cottage and poured all of his expertise in healing charms and potions into keeping him alive.

He didn't bring him straight to St. Mongos, that would attract Ministry attention. If there was one thing Aesop knew, it's when someone was up to no good. It was clear Sebastian Sallow had been in deep with things he shouldn't be. He had multiple wounds and burns all over his body, in varying stages of healing. He looked like a soldier who had been in battle for over a week. His hands had the telltale signs of casting ridiculous amounts of deadly spells.

He had already decided that if Sebastian survived, he would not turn him in. He owed his friends that much. After a long time and almost a whole days work, Sebastians pulse was now steady. He was still not conscious, but Sharp left him to sleep.

Two days later, Sebastian woke up with a start. He jumped up, clenched his bandaged side, and began searching for his wand. Sharp watched for a minute, to see how Sebastian's movements were. He was moving slowly, but all limbs seemed to be moving correctly. Now to test his mind.

"Steady yourself Sebastian! You are safe, there are no enemies around".

The boy whipped his head to where he was sitting in the corner.

"Professor Sharp? You look so odd not in your school outfit". Sebastian said, obviously confused.

"Ah yes, students always think that we are in all parts of our lives a teacher. Amusing." He retorted, still trying to assess Sebastian's mental capacity. He usually was one of his brightest students.

"Erm...I guess. What the fuck am I doing here?".

"I've been pondering that myself. Obviously you have gone on some kind of breakdown, your constant companions are nowhere to be seen. I have no answers there, you will have to supply those answers. However, what I can say is that I think I know why you came here." He answered.
