Ominis POV
He was nervous, but excited. He didn't feel ready but at the same time felt like if he didn't have time alone with Sebastian soon he was going to explode. They were both fairly incompetent at telling each other how they felt. He was a little better at it with Iris, but mostly because she was willing to start the emotional sharing first. With Sebastian, he always felt like he couldn't get the words out, like he would loose him if he said the wrong thing. He sadly knew that Sebastian felt the same way, but he didn't know how to break through it. It's like they were both walking on the thinnest ice when it came to being emotionally vulnerable. Physically though, they were locked in. Ugh, one of the side effects of being attracted to and in a relationship with a bullheaded man, but not being much better yourself.
He also had never learned anything close to normal human interactions with his family. They were either cruel, cold or actively avoiding any interaction with each other. They were stoic, withholding and often times completely irrational in their mistrust of everything but blood purity and their family status. He suspected they held onto it so strongly because they were fading from modern existence, they were becoming a relic. He was so pleased by them slowly becoming obsolete, relishing in his role in it. He would not marry, he would not have children. Even if he wasn't in a relationship with a man, he had decided it long ago. He was also pleased that after 3 years of marriage, his older brother had still not produced an heir. That didn't bode well, and on the surface it appeared Ominis was being petty and spiteful. However, his heart couldn't take another child in their household, he knew what they would be subjected too.
He shook his head, his thoughts were wandering down the deeply entrenched and worn down negative paths in his brain. He smirked at himself, he was honestly almost as bad as Sebastian, he just hid it better. He decided to check in with Iris and see how he could help their preparations.
She was in the library of course, he found her and her voice sounded so enthusiastic it made him get more excited. She took him on a long walk in a direction of the castle he didn't typically go. Eventually he heard bricks moving and sliding, he used his wand to "see" the entrance opening. He was elated, the Room of Requirement!
"Of course you found this place my dear", he smiled at her with a warm fondness. He could see she smiled, he couldn't see intricate details of faces or expressions, but he had other ways. He genuinely loved Iris, but he knew he would most likely never be able to get the right words or courage to tell her directly. That's why he used "my dear" as much as possible, and had overcome his aversion to touching others, with her only. Sebastian didn't count, he never had an aversion to him, he was pulled to him like a magnet.
Iris to him was like a rainy, summer day. He was comforted by her and felt like basking in the warmth and listen to the rain fall. Her warmth wasn't like Sebastian, he was fire. Hers was nurturing somehow. When Sebastian unsettled either of them, they were each other's ports of calmness. He was glad she was finally moving on past Sebastian, that was breaking his heart.
"Professor Weasley showed me, and helped me set it up". Iris explained.
"Ah that makes more sense, you are always such a teachers pet". He teased. He felt her stiffen next to him, knowing he hit a nerve unintentionally. He reached out and ran his fingers through her hair in reassurance. He loved her hair, it was soft but textured, and smelled like her.
"I mean that kindly, I enjoy how much you care". Ominis recanted his jest. He heard her let out a little exhale.
"I'm sorry I am sensitive about that and I don't know why". Iris said. He smelled a stronger vanilla scent and he saw her shake her head and hair, he knew that was her cue she was moving past something.
