Iris made sure that one of the first orders of business was to set up Nox to take a bath and change her clothes. Having been through a few traumatic experiences herself; she knew that someone couldn't get out of that headspace until they felt like a person again. While Nox was in the bath, and she was taking a long one, she went to begin showing Ominis around.
It wasn't huge, but large compared to the flat. It had the living room, kitchen and sitting area downstairs. The next level had the master bedroom, with an additional bedroom attached by a bathroom. Fig had made that their study. Across the hall was another bedroom, a little farther away, and that's where Iris was planning on setting up his sister to stay. She knew they were quite loud....and didn't want to be mortified constantly. There was also an attic that had a sunlight. She wasn't sure what to do with the dusty room yet, but they would figure out something.
Ominis was still on edge, he seemed out of sorts in the new setting. She was still quite angry he hadn't brought up his sister before. She was not letting him get out of this one.
"So all the years we talked about sisters, you never thought to mention your own??" She was glaring at him, she knew he would be able to sense it. She was glad he at least had the decency to blush.
"I told.....hmmm, this is hard.....I told him...about it years ago. He pushed for a bit and then even he let it go. I have only a few memories of her, and after I was 9, I didn't see her for 2 years. Any party we were at together, we didn't interact". Ominis said quietly.
Hearing Ominis bring up him for the first time in awhile was a gut punch. That was enough to make her anger towards him fade away. He was obviously still quite affected.
"Were you there very going to tell me about her?" Iris asked.
Ominis had a pained look expression. "To be honest, I had mostly forgotten about her. I don't think about her, I suppose that makes me quite the jerk".
"Yes it does". She said firmly. However, it was too odd, Ominis never let anything go, ever. She could tell by his blank expression they wouldn't be getting much farther on the topic today though.
"She can't leave this townhouse, dont you agree Ominis?" She was very concerned that she wouldn't be safe anywhere now, her looks were distinctive. She thought how very much she looked like her brother. Her hair was a shade or two lighter, and her eyes were piercing blue. She was built lithe, like he was, she was also tall.
"My Dear, I completely agree. She has to be watched when we ever do let her leave. I wouldn't like it if I was her, but it's the best we can do for now".
Nox came downstairs after her bath and change of clothes. Her hair was out of the fancy updo now, and it flowed all the way down to the small of her back.
The three of them made small talk, it was obviously uncomfortable. They began working on getting the rooms ready to sleep in, they hadn't been used in awhile. Being busy helped, Iris was with Nox in her room while Ominis was getting their room set up.
"You truly love my brother?" Nox asked quietly, as if now that they were alone, Iris might have a different story.
"Why yes! Why would you ask? He is the best person I know, he makes me feel loved and cared for always. I would be a fool to not be mad about him".
"Hmmm it's so odd. My family told me he is defective, and is unnatural. They said the only reason you were hanging around was to try and trap a Gaunt, with the Abbott's being a lower class family and all" Nox said, matter of factly.
Iris could not believe what she was hearing and began getting mad at Nox for saying such cruel things in such a cold manner. Then she remembered the first interaction she had with her beloved. He was rude and haughty, and that was after Sebastian and Anne had been friends with him for years.
