Vitriol and Jealousy

Come Monday morning, the pair apparated to the ministry, they both had to report to Samantha's office. Multiple Auror's and the two curse breakers were also required to attend. There was a new mission gearing up that would take more than the typical pair of Auror's.

They held hands as they walked into the room and settled in together leaning on a desk in the corner. Soon, there were about 8 people in the room, and Samantha walked in.

"As some of you know, children are getting cursed and we are at a loss. Very few witnesses and no real context to them, so we have zero idea on any motivation for this. We are understaffed in our curse breaker department, so we are going to be reassigning a few Auror's, and adding Iris to this team for now. We have also consulted and asked for assistance, we need to get creative.".

Iris watched as she motioned towards the door, she looked up more eagerly and whispered to Ominis that this must the curse breaker from a different country. As soon as she saw the confident walk, she knew.

"What the fuck?", She said louder than she should have.

"Team, meet Sebastian Sallow. He is from the area, but has been in America for some time. He has already established himself as an effective curse breaker, with um...unconventional, tactics".

People began greeting him, and he kept glancing over at them with an eyebrow raised. Ominis was shaking in anger beside her. She had to talk to Samantha, there was no way that this was correct. She went rushing over to her and asked for a word. She pulled her into the hallway.

"Samantha! How can the ministry be working with a known dark wizard? He is bad news!".

"Known dark wizard? No....he does apply some of their techniques, but that is more typical in America than here. They have a different stance on it. I don't entirely agree with it, and if there weren't three children under curses, I wouldn't have chosen him.". She lowered her voice.

"You also know, that no soul will be more dedicated to helping these children than Mr. Sallow. I actually thought you two would be pleased, I was told by intelligence that you three were thick as thieves in school". Samantha replied, looking at Iris closely.

"We were, we had a falling out. I don't think we can work with him." Iris said with defiance and crossed her arms over her chest.

"Well, Ominis does not have too. I don't need all the Auror's who were in this room to help, but needed some able to help when asked. You, however, would prove invaluable. Are you going to let emotions get in the way of helping others?". She guilted Iris. Damn, did the intelligence department also tell her that Iris was incapable of saying no when it came to helping others? Probably. She sighed and turned around to walk back to the room.

She heard male voices talking low and angry. She just knew it was her two idiots.

"Gaunt, I got to say, you two look worse for the wear. You both looked much more stunning last night, must have been the moonlight. You should have seen the stupid looks on your faces when they introduced me". She could just hear his shit eating grin.

"Ah Sallow, don't flatter yourself. We were shocked the ministry would stoop so low as to consort with the likes of you. Also, we are worse for the wear as you say, because we were otherwise engaged". Ominis said, with a haughty air of superiority.

"Oh yes, braiding each other's hair? I know how tender you can be about your looks". Sebastian said sarcastically.

She was peeking around the corner and saw Ominis take two steps close to their old friend.

"No, we were fucking, all night long. She was glorious, writhing under me and begging for more. Sebastian, she is quite something when she comes for me. Last night, it was what? Oh yes, three times. Perfection". Ominis said in a tone that sent electricity right to her core. It must have rattled Sebastian a bit as well because he didn't immediately come back with a sly comment. She knew she should be upset he was talking like that about her, but she knew he was trying to gain some of his confidence back with Sebastian being back.
