Pablo was still yet to return when I noticed a young girl standing at the entrance of our room. She had a tense look as she walked to us with a white wine. I don't remember asking for a white wine.

She dropped the wine as she whispered something to me.

“ Read the note," she said as she narrowed her eyes to the wine and I saw that there was a note under the wine she kept,

“ Hey you, what are you doing here, juniors like you don't serve VIPs," I heard a man say and her back immediately stiffened.

" I'm sorry sir, I…I…,"

“ I asked her to bring it," I said to the man who I guess must be her senior,

The girl quickly used the opportunity to sneak away,

“ Sorry for any inconveniences," he apologized,

“ It's okay," I said and he nodded before walking out of the room,

I turned to Leo and he just shrugged as he picked his cutleries to start eating but I narrowed my eyes at him and he quickly dropped them back with a scowl, we couldn't start eating without signing the document and Pablo wasn't back.

I picked the note the girl brought as I opened it and what I saw made me shocked.

“ What's that?” Leo asked noticing my silence as he took the note from me,

“ Fuck," he cursed in shock,

‘ The food is poisoned, don't eat it, I saw them put something inside,’ the note read,

“ Is she sure of what she's saying?" Leo asked,

" Why don't you eat it so we find out,” I said,

" No way, what if I die?” She said,

" We have to send for…" I was about to say when the door opened and Pablo walked back in,

“ I'm sorry, I had to take the call, it was important," he said as he sat back down,

" Let's sign the document shall we?” he said,

" The food is poisoned,” I suddenly said,

" Excuse me?" Pablo asked in confusion,

" A girl brought in a note and it says the food is poisoned and we don't know if it's everyone's plate,” Leo explained,

" Poisoned? Why would anyone want to poison any of us?” He asked,

" We're rich and not everyone like us,” I said with a shrug,

“ That's crazy, what if it's a lie?” Pablo asked,

" Well, eat the food and find out,” Leo used the words I used on him,

" Leo, go bring that girl that brought the white wine,” I said and he nodded before he stood and walked out of the room,

" I can't believe that if there's really poison in this food we would have eaten it without knowing and it would have been our last meal," Pablo said in bewilderment,

“ Yeah," I said as he passed me the document and I signed while we waited for Leo.

Some minutes later he walked back into the room with the girl that brought the note and she looked so pale like she had been her told she committed a crime,

“ You don't have to look so scared, just tell us why you think there's poison in the food?" I asked,

She looked down as she nervously played with the hem of her uniform shirt.

“ Am…am I in trouble?” she asked,

She might get in trouble if we find out that she was lying and there was no poison in the food.

“ I took the empty plates after our customers were done eating and I saw two guys putting something in the food, I didn't know which one was poisoned but I knew there was poison because I heard them say ‘I hope he dies so we can get our money,’ that all I heard and when it was time to serve I saw them enter this room," she explained,

“ Are you sure?" Leo asked,

“ Yes, I wouldn't just risk my job and even my life for nothing," she said, she was right.

“ Alright, for your safety you're coming with us, if anyone finds out you told us about the poison you'll get in trouble," I said,

“ Oh," she simply said like I told her she'd get arrested the moment we walked out of the room.

Instead of calling the police and calling for attention, Leo took each of our food and emptied it in a ziploc bag that the girl gave to him and tagged our names on it.

I told the girl's boss that I admire how hardworking she is and I apologize but I'll be taking her to work in one of my hotels and that's exactly what I did.

I couldn't let her get killed for trying to save one of us.

We all walked out of the restaurant like nothing happened,

“ Are you sure you're going to give me a job? I have college to pay for,” she asked for the hundredth time,

" We're going to give you a job Cara,” Leo said,

We stopped in front of the police station as Leo stepped out of the car,

“ I'll be right back," he said before the door closed and I watched him climb up the stairs before disappearing into the police station.

“ How old are you?" I asked,

“ Seventeen," she said and I turned to her in confusion,

“ Seventeen and you're paying for college yourself?" I asked and she shrugged,

“ My parents don't have enough money for that, so I was very lucky when this restaurant offered me a job to be one of their waitresses, but it seems like I don't have the job again,” she said with a sigh,

“ We've told you you don't have to worry, you'll get a job,” I said,

" If you say so,”

We waited in the car for over twenty minutes and Leo was still not out yet.

After about thirty three minutes I saw him walking out of the police station.

He opened the car door and entered inside and I looked at him expectantly as he sighed,

“ There was poison in all three of them," he says and Cara gasped,

“ I didn't actually see them put poison in all the food maybe they did so before I came,” she said in shock as the car became quiet,

" Why would anyone want to poison us?” Leo asked like he didn't already knew the answer to that,

" You guys are rich I guess,” Cara said with a shrug,

“ Do you know the faces of the men you saw putting the poison in the food?"

" I do but I'll get in trouble!” she said in panic,

“ Calm down, we're going to get everyone investigated and you're going to watch from a screen and identify them, does that work for you?" I asked and she nodded as she released a breath,

To think that a random girl we didn't know from anywhere just saved three grown ass men from getting poisoned baffles me.

The question now was; who was this person that wanted us dead and why?
