I know she was purposely doing this to annoy me, she kept laughing and hitting my shoulder as she listened to her best friend talk about their shenanigans as children.
She was having fun, well, she should have all the fun she wants now, I'll have my fun later.
“ My best friend is a good person and I hope that her husband really cherishes her," he said and I couldn't help but scoff.
I'm sure he knows everything happening and knows that we don't fucking love each other, then what was he saying? And what good person was he talking about? Was it the same woman sitting beside me or someone else.
What was even more shocking was that all her friends were saying the same thing about her being a good person. It's either they were scared of telling her the truth or she bewitched them.
They all kept praising her and I just watched them in boredom.
“ Are you jealous? You should get friends like mine," she whispered to my ear,
“ Nahh, I wouldn't like to be surrounded by crackheads like that," I said,
“ Excuse me, the only crackhead I know is you, you stupid…”
" The camera is watching," I drawled and she quickly corrected herself as she smiled at me,
“ That's more like it,” I said with a chuckle,
“It's time for the father and daughter dance.” The MC said,
She groaned before she stood up as her father walked to her and took her hand as he led her to the dance floor.
Slow music started playing and I watched them dance to the music, they were talking and I noticed the way different emotions crossed her face before she tried to hide it, it looked like she was tense.
It was like he was saying something she didn't like but had no choice but to accept.
They were interrupted when my Dad came and took her father's place and for some reason I couldn't help but smile. It doesn't matter that this marriage wasn't out of love but my parents were happy and that was all there was.
To them we were happy couples and that was what we'll continue to be to them.
She laughed at something my Dad said, different from when she was dancing with her Dad. I really don't know much about her relationship with her father but I don't think it's all that good.
I knew people were expecting us to dance next so I didn't wait to be called, I stood up and walked to them as I tapped my dad on the shoulder.
“ Can I have my wife back, you can go back to yours," I said and he laughed before placing her hand in mine.
“ You're so desperate for my attention, you had to cut that interesting story of when you were ten,” she said and I groaned.
I can't believe my Dad kept his promise, he said he was going to expose me to my wife on my wedding day and he did it.
I was only ten when I started dreaming of a wife because I saw how much my parents loved each other so I'd tell my Mom I wanted someone like her to make me cookies and make the best meals. So I started writing a lot of love letters. There were so many and I had a lot of embarrassing things in there. My mom still has the box and I have a feeling she'll give it to this woman.
“ It's not like you're the wife I imagined," I said,
“ It doesn't matter, I'm the wife they think you wished for. Oh, I can't imagine the countless nights you went on your knees praying for the perfect wife,” she teased,
" Unfortunately, I wasn't lucky,” I said and she just laughed,
Other people joined us on the dance floor as I kept my hands on Lilly's waist swaying to the music.
“ My feet aches, I'm tired and I want to sit," she complained so I led her back to the chair.
I went down on my knees and removed the buckle of her shoes and then massaged her feets before I sat back on the chair.
" You're being very caring, should I be worried?” she asked,
“ People are watching," I said,
" Whatever makes you sleep at night,” she said with an eye roll.
It suddenly became quiet between us as we just watched the people on the dance floor, dancing and laughing and I was glad they were having fun at our own wedding.
“ You think you've won by marrying me right?" she suddenly asked and I turned her,
“ Haven't I? You're sitting beside me as Mrs Gonzalez, isn't that a win for me?" I said,
“ It definitely is, not everyone can get the opportunity to marry a goddess like me,” she said and I scoffed,
" You see that ego you have, I'm going to break it until you're my obedient little girl," I said and she burst out laughing that people had to turn to us.
“ We shall see,"
