“ But you didn't die Antonio, someone was kind enough to save you before I came. If you can also remember, that day, I found you wet on the floor, maybe she must have asked them to bring you out, I don't think her intention was to kill you," he said and I scoffed.
“ Can you listen to yourself? Sometimes I wonder if you're my friend or you're trying to get on her good side, what are you saying? That it's fun to play with someone's life? Whether they helped me out or not she shouldn't have sent someone to push me into the pool in the first place, she had it in mind to kill me. So please whatever I'm doing don't judge me, if you keep this up I'll stop telling you things," I said and he raised his hands up in surrender.
“ Fine," he said with a shake of his head.
" I'm not going to kill her, so you don't have to worry about me going to prison, I only plan on making her suffer for all the things she has done, that's all, it's just pay back,” I said.
....“By the way, I'm going to keep this ‘sick’ act for only a few days that's it. I prefer staying here than being in a house all alone with her.”
“ If you say so, just don't come crying to me,” he said and I rolled my eyes.
He filled me in on things I needed to know. I asked him for my laptop so I could get some work done but he refused to give me saying I was sick and sick people don't work.
So here I was on the hospital bed just staring at the ceiling instead of doing something useful with my time.
A knock suddenly came on the door and I just ignored it, I had a feeling who might just be there. The knock came again but I still ignored it but the door opened.
“ Look, I really don't want to be here with you but I don't have a choice, your Mom made you something to eat," she said as she walked to me with a bag and just dumped it on my lap.
“ Do whatever you want," she said before she pulled the chair beside me and sat down.
I looked at the bag on my lap as I took out the food and started eating.
“ Gosh, I'm tired of sitting here and doing nothing," Lilly groaned as she stood up and walked to the door but just as she opened the door she closed it as she ran back to the chair and took the food I was eating.
“ What is wrong with you? What are you…”
" Shut up, our parents are coming, open your mouth,” she said as she brought the food to my mouth,
" No,” I said,
" Are you insane? Open your goddamn mouth,” she said as she pushed the food for me to open my mouth but I kept my mouth shut.
The door opened and I didn't have to think twice before I took the food,
" Aren't they so sweet?” My Mom said as she walked in with Lilly's mother. My Dad and hers following.
" Thank you for taking care of my son honey,” my mother said as she came to sit beside me on the bed.
" It's my pleasure Mom, he's my husband after all, he can be very stubborn but I try my best,” she said with a sickly sweet smile as she looked at me like she was daring me to counter what she said.
" Don't mind my son, he loves you very much, you're the best thing that ever happened to him, I'm his mother I know,” my Mom said and I almost choked on the food in my mouth.
Best what? I'm sure she meant the opposite.
“ Of course, I know, he kept telling me that when we were at the beach house, right baby?" she asked as she turned to me and I gritted my teeth. I knew what she was trying to do, she was trying to put me in the spotlight in front of our family.
“ Yes, it's no secret that you're the best thing that ever happened to me," I said and her smile widened, feeling satisfied with herself.
“ There, you have it, he said it again," she said as she chuckled and I clenched my fist under the sheet trying to control myself from saying something that would get me in trouble.
“ How are you feeling son?" Lilly's father asked,
“ Good I feel better, I should be out of here by tomorrow, hopefully," I said,
“ That's good to know," he said as he squeezed my shoulder.
" All thanks to your beautiful daughter,” my Dad said as he hugged Lilly from the side, what was wrong with all of them? Why were they showering her with praises for nothing?
Just as I was about to zone out from this sickening display, Lilly’s voice cut through the chatter.
" Oh, before I forget, Antonio and I have an announcement to make,” Lilly suddenly said, her voice dripping with excitement.
My heart stopped. Announcement? What the hell is she talking about? I glanced at her totally confused but she didn't meet my eyes, instead, she turned to our parents, a sweet smile plastered across her face, like she was about to deliver the best news they could ever hear.
“ What is it darling?" My mother asked eagerly as she turned Lilly then me. Mom, I don't even know the announcement she wants to make.
" Should I tell them honey?” she asked, her voice innocent, but her eyes glinted with something else entirely. She was toying with me—putting me in a position where I had no idea what was coming, but I’d be forced to play along.
“ We're excited for whatever you have to share with us," my Mom said, leaning in, completely oblivious to the tension building between us.
I know she couldn't possibly be expecting pregnancy news because it was too early for that and that wasn't even going to happen.
“ This is for you Mom," she said as she held my Mom's hand. I narrowed my eyes at her warning her with my eyes not to do something stupid. I just knew that I wasn't going to like whatever she was going to say.
" For me? What could it be?” My Mom asked
Lilly’s smile widened, and I knew she had me trapped. “Well…” she drawled, drawing out the suspense, turning her head ever so slightly toward me, her gaze daring me to stop her.
I clenched my fists beneath the sheets, my jaw tightening. This woman was going to pull something, and I had no idea what.
“ So since Mom's birthday is coming up in six months, we have decided that as a special birthday present we'd give her…” She paused dramatically as she looked at them. I swear I'm going to kill this woman if she tries anything funny.
“ Give me what? You're making me anxious," my Mom said and Lilly chuckled.
" We'd give you the biggest surprise of your life,”
