《Wake up, Linda! Breakfast is on the table, if you don't hurry down you'll skip it! 》
I hear from outside the door, with a strange energy of happiness in the morning, Aunt Benedetta, since we're going to school, just me and Marco, because Antonio caught a heavy flu, so he's staying home to rest...
I quickly put on my uniform, and quickly go downstairs, after all it's been since yesterday morning that I haven't put something under my teeth.
《Good morning, would you like some warm milk? With bread and jam?》
Aunt Teresa who was preparing breakfast asked me, Marco was already there drinking a glass of warm milk with biscuits.
《Hello》
He asks, still staying focused on his breakfast, his hair is messy, and the tie of his uniform is ruffled.
《Hello》
I reply to him, without him looking at me.
《Zia, I'll just take the sandwich, no milk, thanks》
I reply and she nods with a smile, almost motherly.
《Today, what lessons do you have? 》
Aunt Benedetta asked, out of curiosity.
《Today we have the first two hours Italian, literature, then one hour of maths, one hour of history, one hour of geography, and one hour of German.》
I explain, and his face grimaces at the last one.
《Didn't I know there was also German?》
《Mom, they added it a fortnight ago, because Germans keep coming here.》
Marco explains to his mother.
《Well go and get yourselves settled in, you have to start walking in a moment, otherwise you'll be late》.
《Aunt Teresa incites us while she was collecting all the dirty dishes to wash them.
《I go upstairs to pack my backpack and arrive》.
Having said that I go up the stairs to my room, to get my school books, the one for Italian, which is a brick in every sense weighs and takes up space, the one for maths is a thin and light book, the one for history is similar to the one for maths and the one for geography is also very similar, while for German they didn't make us take a book, they only make us take notes.
I put everything in my backpack, with notebooks for each subject, a pencil case and a diary.
All right, everything ready for six hours of school.
I go down the stairs and meet Marco who was just coming out of his room with his backpack on his shoulder.
《Did you get everything? 》
《Aunt Benedetta asks us, accompanying us to the gate of the house.
《Yes, Auntie everything》
《Yes, everything》
We answer him together as we start walking towards the road.
《Did you do your German homework for today? 》
I ask Marco, who from the bewildered look he gives me, I can tell it's a no.
《Yes, in the geography class, I'll let you copy it, alright?》
《You're my saviour, know it! 》
He says, happily prancing down the street.
《Hey Marco, Linda! What's up? 》
We hear and immediately turn towards the voice, and see Anna and Paolo coming towards us, also in uniform and carrying backpacks.
《Hi, how are you? 》
I ask them, while Paolo and Marco greet each other with a high-five, Anna and I are just greeted with a hand salute.
《Let's go to school together, otherwise we'll be late and Mrs. Geltrude, she gets angry and keeps pouting at us all week and it's only Monday morning, and we have another 8 hours of her this week! 》
》I propose to everyone, after taking a look at the clock on a house.
《Good idea, you know! 》
Everyone responds to me, equally moved by not being late.
