Evie
The date was September 30 2006.
Owens 19th birthday landed on a Sunday. I, Ciara and Finn put together an amazing breakfast. Finn words not mine.
We woke him up with the usual happy birthday song. He ate his breakfast in bed and open the presents we brought him.
Finn gave him a picture he colored, Ciara gave him a new sketch book and pencils and I gave him new headphones he has wanted for a while.
It's not much but we don't really have the money for more expensive things.
Later at lunch we all helped make his favorite food. Laughing and forgetting all about our unfortunate past.
We had a little scare with Finn. When his asthma acted up suddenly. But all was fine in the end.
We went to the movies and watched a film Owen picked out. Ciara fought about all the candy she wanted to buy.
But Owen and me didn't budge and she settled with buttered popcorn. And a sprite.
I ordered the same and Owen too but he chose Pepsi to drink instead.
It was an action film and Finn didn't wake up even one time on his nap.
Later we left and night time had fallen.
That brings me to the present...
I glance around the quiet street. "Shall we stop at a restaurant and eat there?" I ask my siblings.
Owen hums. "Sure" Ciara says. Finn only laugh while he walks beside me.
We chose the dinner Lucy's. We're greeted by the sound of soft music and chatter. The smell of burgers and fries hits me more and more as I walk in.
I led the way to an empty booth near the back. The lamp over us lights up the other dark restaurant.
"Hello I'm Sara, welcome to Lucy's what would you like to have" she says with a smile.
I look down at the menu. "Mm, I would like to have the cheeseburger and an Fanta to drink"
I smile back at her. I order Finns food for him and then Owen and Ciara orders theirs.
"So did you like your birthday?" I ask Owen. He smiles at me. "Yeah I liked it"
I nod. "That's good"
Sara comes back with our food. Talking and laughing we celebrate one of the happiest days of our lifetime.
We sit there eating the night away.
