Evie's POVI was barely holding it together. The rumors, the stares, the constant feeling that everyone was watching me—it was all too much.
Shannon, Claire, and Aoife were doing their best to cheer me up, but even they couldn't stop the tidal wave of anxiety that was threatening to pull me under.
When I got home that evening, Owen was waiting for me in the living room. "What's going on, Evie?"
I sighed, collapsing onto the couch. "Lizzie. She's spreading lies about our family."
Owen's face darkened. "You want me to deal with it?"
"No," I said quickly. "I don't want you getting involved."
But as I sat there, feeling completely powerless, I couldn't help but wonder if Owen stepping in might be the only way to stop Lizzie.
Masen's POV
The day of the rugby match against Evie's old school arrived faster than I expected.
Tension was running high. This was more than just a game—it was a chance to show everyone that Ballylaggin could hold its own.
But I couldn't focus. Not with Evie standing on the sidelines, her camera in hand, her face a mix of emotions I couldn't quite read.
I knew she was struggling, and I hated that I couldn't do anything about it.
The game started, and it was brutal. Johnny was on fire, but the other team was relentless.
The crowd was roaring, but all I could think about was how much I wanted to find Evie afterward and make sure she was okay.
We were down by a point with only minutes left. Johnny called for a final play, and somehow, through sheer determination, we managed to score.
The crowd went wild, but all I could see was Evie, her camera hanging by her side as she stared out at the field.
As I walked toward her, I knew what I had to do.
No more games. No more waiting.
"Evie," I said, my voice low. "We need to talk."
She looked up at me, her eyes wide. And in that moment, I knew—this was it. There was no going back.
