For I hold you by your right hand— I, the LORD your God. And I say to you, 'Don't be afraid. I am here to help you.

Isaiah 41:13 (NLT)

I love the intimacy of the imagery in this verse. I picture a parent with a young child, holding their hand to keep them safe in busy crowds and crossing dangerous roads. This is even greater than parental love however, because it's omnipotent Lord God, not just a well meaning parent.

Apparently there's as many commands in Scripture not to be afraid as there are days in the year! We might need to fear the Lord as the beginning of wisdom, but He takes our fear away. His perfect love casts out fear.

Many people think God is out to get them. They assume He's waiting for them to mess up. They might even think He's wanting to trip us up.

Mercifully, God is here to help us. He's not out to get us. He wants what's best for us.

'Sovereign Father God, we're so grateful for Your love and care of us, that we don't need to be afraid, because You help us. May we keep close to You, for Your glory, amen'
