‭2 Chronicles 15:7 ESV‬
But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.”

Asa was a righteous king of Judah. He trusted the Lord. Nonetheless, I'm sure he appreciated the encouragement of this verse.

Judah was full of idolatry and unrighteousness. Asa set out to reform it. He had his work cut out, but he was encouraged to persevere.

What about us? Are we seeking to be 'salt and light' in society: acting as an illumating preservative for our peoples? If so, we too should stand firm in the Lord.

I love the promise at the end of this verse. We don't deserve to be rewarded, because we fall short of God's glory. We deserve His condemnation, but He graciously rewards the faith in Him that is a gift from Him.

'Lord our God, please help us to be courageous in Your service. Thank You for Your gracious promise to reward us, through Christ Jesus, in whose name we pray, amen'.
