Betrayal of the Worst Kind

There must have been something in the universe that was wrong. There must have been a curse on the Cat and Raven Miraculous, together, separately or as a whole. There must have been some reason as to why we never got a happy ending.

Chat Noir was tied to a chair in the centre of his own room. The ropes were knotted twice around his four limbs, in a tangled mess that even a Boy Scout wouldn't dare touch. He looked bad, and by bad I meant that he was on the brink of unconsciousness. Someone had beat him up prior to my delayed entrance.

"So you see, Y/N." Hawkmoth prowled into the corner of my vision. My gaze snapped to him and my wings immediately straightened. Old habits died hard. "This is what happens when people don't play by my rules. No one is spared. Not even my own son."

"Why are you doing this? Why are you still doing this?" I begged for an answer, but I knew it was hopeless.

A beat passed before someone dragged an unconscious Ladybug into the room. She was in worse condition than Chat Noir, which was saying something awful. The person who tossed Ladybug like a rag doll was none other than Felix. He was Akumatized, so there was a chance he was still saveable.

"Because, my dear Raven, this is not a kids story. Sometimes the villains get to win."

"You say you're doing this for Emilie, but why not choose your son?" It was a last resort. Chat Noir was stirring. I could see his cat ears twitch. "Why was Adrien never enough for you?"

Something flickered in Hawkmoth's eyes.

He was weakened. That much I could tell from the way he hobbled on his cane. But he had his wits about him, and he wasn't dead yet. He still had yet enough strength in him to take down to teenage superhero's in full strength.

"It was never about Adrien not being enough for me."

"Of course it was. This has always been about you getting your wife back."

Hawkmoth grew angry. "Don't you see Raven? I have no choice. I could not provide for Adrien as I was before, not without Emilie, and now there is no redemption for us as a family. My only choice, my only option is to follow through with my initial plan."

He glared at me. "With our initial plan."

"So you plan on killing them?" I gestured to Ladybug and Chat Noir. "You would kill your own son, steal his miraculous, and bring Emilie back?"

"I think you know the answer to that." Hawkmoth stalked forward, his weight entirely balanced on his cane. "I am dying, Raven. So this next part is up to you. Get the miraculous from Adrien and Ladybug, and I will spare all of you. Refuse, and I'll have Felix end all three of you."

"Why shouldn't I just kill you now?"

"Because I'll kill your precious kitty," Felix snarked from the other side of the room. He had a knife pressed at Chat Noir's throat.

I had no choice.

I always tried to rationalize my bad decisions when it came to Hawkmoth. I couldn't think of a time where I didn't have a perfectly good reason for going along with his schemes, his plans and his mischief. It was to right the wrongs in this twisted world. It was to get revenge on everyone who had ever hurt me. It was to put some grey area in a world full of hero's. Or maybe I was just evil.

"Fine."

Adrien's ragged breathing sharpened. "Y/N....no."

I was backed into a corner. There was no other option. Either I tried my hand at single-handedly killing Felix and Hawkmoth, or I surrendered and preserved the lives of Adrien and Marinette.

So I did the one thing I thought I could. I took Adrien's miraculous and I gave it to Hawkmoth.
