Oh I so hope that this story reaches the right audience.....

TW: chat being a hotheaded jerk (idk if it's attractive or not idk yet), mentions of abuse, swearing

Rain dripped miserably from the rooftops. It splashed into gutters, spinning blustery wet gusts into the Paris air.

It was like the sky was crying.

The sky certainly had good reason to.

I perched on my balcony which faced the Dupain-Cheng's bakery. I was glad for the darkness, so that not even Marinette Dupain-Cheng could see me in such a predicament. She may have been my best friend in the daytime, but at night, I was no one's friend.

I stretched my wings out, wincing as the tight fabric of my raven costume pressed irritatingly against my skin. My raven miraculous was tied safely around my neck, sealed so tightly that I doubt Hawkmoth himself would've been able to remove it from me.

I grimaced. Hawkmoth wouldn't be happy with me. Ladybug and that fucking Chat Noir had just celebrated their latest victory. But I could taste success. With every new akumatized villain, Hawkmoth grew stronger, and it wouldn't be long before his master plan was finally fulfilled.

I checked the time. 2am. Not a prime time to be outside in the darkness, but I needed to stretch my wings. Losing had taken a toll on my pride, and my physical being.

I hopped nimbly across the buildings, spreading my wings. I knew where I was going to go, and though it was absolutely forbidden, I couldn't stop myself.

"I didn't think you'd come tonight," His voice was quiet, which was unusual. he was nearly always cocky, opening his mouth to make some self-cantered remark. "I thought you'd be grooming your feathers alone. You know...to take the sting out of my latest victory."

There it was.

He had his head half facing away from me as he stared at the view from the Eiffel Tower. I knew he'd be here. At the very top, as usual. Waiting. Festering in loneliness and purposeless.

Chat Noir turned around to face me. He leaned gracefully against his pole. "You know, one of these days, someone is going to snatch your pretty little wing, and then—,"

"Would you shut up?" I snapped, stepping closer to the annoyingly blonde cat. He pursed his lips shut, giving me a mocking expression with his eyes. "You meow too much, but without value." I stood so that we were nearly touching. "It's why I like you better with your mouth shut."

"Awe," Chat Noir wrinkled his nose. "Well, aren't you adorable?" He slid a hand around my waist. "This is why you're the stupid villain and I'm the esteemed superhero."

"Never call me that again," I narrowed my eyes. Chat tightened his grip on me, and he tugged me closer until our hips were touching. Water dripped down his nose, onto his lips. He licked it off, keeping his green eyes, trained on mine. "I'm not stupid."

"Ah, so it's validation you need," Chat mocked, sinking to his knees. "Oh my god, you're amazing,  Raven. So strong and—"

I grabbed his chin, forcing him to look at me. "This is a view I could get used to."

Chat was on his feet in a minute, and he had me pressed against the railing. "Don't be foolish," his voice grew dangerously quiet.

"This isn't very hero like of you," I managed to say, as my back arched further over the railing. Chat pushed his knee in between my legs, keeping me trapped there. My wings fluttered uncomfortably against the hard metal.

"You know your place, Raven," Chat muttered into my ear. He withdrew, staring at me for a second. "Unfortunate. You'd be worth so much more if you weren't filth like Hawkmoth," he tilted my head. "What a fucking shame."

It was condescending. He was a dick. But —-

I pressed my lips to his, ignoring who it was, and focusing on how it was. He felt almost safe to me, even though I knew his eventual goal was to destroy me. In fact, the fact that he was out to destroy me made me feel even better. Like I was exerting some sense of control over my eventual fate.

I knew that this was going nowhere good, but I didn't have a strong enough will to stop it.

"You're insane," Chat pulled away. "What would your little boss say?"

"What would your partner in crime say?" I retorted. I backed away from him. "If this is so insane, then why are you here?"

"You're right," Chat said, narrowing his eyes. "I also like you better when you're not talking to me. Remember our deal? No fucking questions. No strings. Just —," he gestured around. "This. This and nothing more."

I felt his words sink into the pit of my stomach. I wasn't disappointed. We had this dumb rendezvous happening behind everyone's backs for a week now. It was only a matter of time before he got bored.

"Nothing more," I echoed definitively.

Chat stepped closer to me again, but I retreated towards the side of the roof. "I'm good, yeah?" I  blinked at his brief confusion. "Yeah, I'm gonna go home now. Don't follow me."

The expression on his face was cold. "Why would I?"

I jumped over the side of the building, for a minute letting myself fall straight down. What would happen if I didn't let my wings catch me? If I continued to plummet down, down, down, until I fell on the pavement. Would anyone care? Would Chat Noir jump down to save me? Or would he just let me fall?

I didn't want to find out just yet.

I spread my wings, lifting high above the Eiffel Tower. It was foolishness, this — whatever we had.

The raindrops pelted my face as I flew home, leaving behind the idiot in the cat suit.

There was no need to announce my arrival in my home. No one would've cared. My mother was downstairs with her boyfriend. I could hear their laughter from upstairs. It was high pitched and fake. Her falsettos rang through the thin walls.

"Y/N," I remembered her voice in my head. "You're the most important thing in my life, and nothing or nobody is ever going to change that."

What a load of bullshit.

I heard a clatter from downstairs and a quick shout. Then the sound of a slap. A yelp. Then quiet voices talking.

It's funny, how fast laughter turns to tears.
