Lied

I got secrets....that nobody knows

My heart went silent.

Wind rushed past my ears.

"I died?"

"I killed you," Adrien's voice was full of anguish. "I found out my father was Hawkmoth, and I killed everyone because of it with my cataclysm."

"No," I gulped air, bending over. My head felt limp. Adrien slipped a finger under my chin, tipping it back up.

"Y/N. Do you want to hear the rest?"

His voice had softened, and so had his gaze. The arch of his eyebrows, the bend in his lips and the lines of cheekbones, to the charisma of his features took my breath away.

Despite what he was telling me, all I could do was stare.

Adrien took another breath.

"I killed you during the final battle with Hawkmoth—my father. My father. Gabriel Agreste. I know that he's Hawkmoth."

"You were just pretending to not know. You and Ladybug —" the breath whooshed out of my lungs. "You two knew the whole time? Do you know who Ladybug is?"

"I'm sorry," he repeated, but his words fell empty. "no. I don't know Ladybug's identity."

There was a long silence as I tried to absorb all of this information he was giving me.

During the first battle, the final...showdown, if you will — I was killed by Chat Noir's cataclysm?

Adrien hadn't finished explaining yet.

"But Ladybug and I — we were able to restore Paris and everyone in it. With her lucky charm. You weren't so lucky. You took the full force of the Cataclsym, Y/N." His eyes clouded. "I'm so sorry."

"I don't understand."

"I had no choice, Birdy," Adrien's jaw twitched. "I had to save you. I made a deal with Hawkmoth." He paused. "He brought you back, and in exchange, I...I let him copy my Miraculous."

The breath left my lungs. "But he knows that you're his son."

Adrien's tongue poked the inside of his cheek. "He does. But we had a truce...sort of."

It was starting to make slightly more sense.

Father and son, momentarily joining forces for a united cause.

"You woke up in the classroom — no memory of what happened and I thought everything would go back to how it was before. The truce between my father and I was done. We could go back to being enemies," Adrien's expression hardened. "And then you chose Luka."

I closed my eyes.

This was madness.

"I brought you back from the dead and —you — chose —Luka," Adrien exhaled slowly.

"I—"

"So I had to come up with a new plan to restore your memories. And for that, I needed the copy of the Chat Miraculous to deconstruct this world I brought you back into, and rebuild it. Properly this time."

I waited for him to continue.

"Ladybug managed to steal the Cat miraculous back from Hawkmoth — all while protecting you from him." Adrien's tone darkened. "The fire in your room? The attacks on your Mom? Dating your mom? All that was to get to you — to get to me."

"Adrien—"

"Birdy, I planted the fake miraculous right under Luka's nose, hoping he'd figure it out. Hoping that he'd figure out who you truly were. But I was just as foolish as he was, because he didn't realize you were Raven until I gave you the Miraculous in the supply closet a week ago."

"That was you? What about those visions of Bunnix that I had in the apocalypse?"

"Of course it was me," Adrien reached for it, holding it up in front of my face. He fingered the necklace between his thumb and index. "Anything you remember about Bunnix were just hallucinations from the after effects."

"It was me, Y/N. Me all along. I gave you your power back so that we can stop my father once and for all." His eyes flashed. "Y/N. Believe me, I wish that none of this ever had to happen. I love you more than anything. I said that I'd do anything for you."

A beat. "I followed through with my promise."

My head was reeling.

"You did this...because you love me?" I placed my hands on his chest, pushing him backwards. I could feel the tears coming. "How could I believe you, Adrien? After what you did?" My chest was heaving with wracked sobs now —uncontrollable ones. I couldn't make out any audible words from my mouth, but they were coming out fast, matching with my fists against his body.

He was tall, much taller than me and it was easy for him to take each hit, absorbing it soundlessly.

"I'm sorry," Adrien whispered, letting me completely lose it. My eyes burned, but I couldn't stop the shock from rattling my entire body — spreading through my hands and legs. I kept pushing and hitting and lashing out at him until every muscle in my body was on fire.

He stayed mostly still throughout the whole ordeal until my limbs gave up. I collapsed into his chest and he wrapped his arms around me, gently stroking my head.

"Hey — hey, hey ," Adrien lowered his voice to a quiet whisper. "I'm sorry Y/N. I'm sorry that I lied to you. I'm sorry for everything."

I couldn't breathe.

"I didn't want any of this to happen," Adrien breathed. "I just wanted us to be together. I hurt you. I hurt you, and I'm sorry." He gasped, his words coming out tight. "Fuck, Y/N, I love you."

My chest tightened. "You made me...you made me believe I was living in the past. You made me believe that you were the one that died in the Apocalypse. Mari — you know that Marinette is Ladybug. You let Hawkmoth — you let your father date my mother, knowing that he's a supervillain."

"Please," Adrien's face was pleading. "Please Y/N."

"Was Bunnix even involved in any of this? She told me to save you."

"No."

"Of course. You lied about that too."

"I didn't mean to lie," he told me fervently. "I wasn't trying to lie to you. I did this to protect you. From Hawkmoth. From Seth. From anyone else that might try to hurt you, because I love you."

"You keep saying that, Adrien, but I don't believe you."

"Please, Y/N. Please," his eyes went wide with fear. "You know me."

"I don't," I brought my hands to my forehead covering my eyes. "Please. Just go. I need to figure out how to stop him from killing my Mom — and I need to stop her from using the peacock miraculous."

"I can help you."

"I don't want your help," I snapped. "Don't you get it, Adrien? Just leave, okay? I need to figure this out."

Adrien's expression fell, and the heartbreak on his face seemed to echo the screaming inside my chest.

The things he did, and the lies he told me. He knew the whole time that I was Raven. He was a twisted, manipulative bastard who deserved to rot with his father in Akuma-hell.

But still — I remembered all the things he said to me. His words, his face, his —

turn it off. A voice in my head hissed in my ear.

I turned away from him and walked away.
