Adrian Blake quickly helped Sara Hart into the passenger seat, then hurried around to the driver's side. His foot hit the gas pedal, and the car shot forward.

Sara Hart sat in the passenger seat, her body slightly hunched forward. Her back burned painfully, and she didn't dare lean against the seat.

Adrian Blake glanced at her, then dialed a number.

As soon as they arrived at the hospital, Lucas Graves rushed to meet them in the lobby. He looked Adrian Blake up and down with concern. "Adrian, are you hurt? Where's the injury?"

"I'm fine. Where's the doctor?"

"Upstairs," Lucas Graves replied, but his gaze shifted to Sara Hart. Her forehead was dotted with sweat, and the exposed skin on her neck and back was red and swollen. Her clothes clung to her, soaked and stuck to her skin.

"How did it get this bad?" Lucas Graves exclaimed, leading them to the burn specialist.

The doctor took one look at her and started giving orders. "You, get the cooling gel. You, grab some scissors and cut her shirt off the back, quickly!"

Upon hearing the doctor's command to cut her clothes, Adrian Blake and Lucas Graves stepped out of the room.

In the hallway, Adrian Blake leaned against the wall, his head lowered, expression unreadable.

Lucas Graves glanced at the room, then at Adrian Blake, and asked, "She's the one you married, isn't she?"

"Yeah," Adrian Blake muttered, his mood clearly off.

Lucas Graves tried to lighten the tension. "The injury looks bad... You didn't actually hurt her, did you?"

"We were at my father's house."

Lucas Graves immediately dropped the playful tone. "I know Uncle Thomas can be difficult, but he didn't have to go that far, did he?"

"She blocked the tea for me."

Lucas Graves blinked, surprised.

Adrian Blake replayed the scene in his mind. He had been fully prepared to take the hit from the tea. But unexpectedly, Sara Hart had stepped in, taking the scalding liquid directly on her back. He could still hear the sound of the cup hitting her body, a dull thud.

Sara Hart's pale skin had turned red and swollen almost instantly, the severity of the burn evident at a glance.

For a brief moment, Adrian Blake had felt something - something he couldn't quite explain.

From a young age, whenever he visited his father's house, he was used to getting hurt. No one had ever stood in front of him before. He had learned to accept it - it didn't hurt that much, and he always healed after a few days.

But Sara Hart had shielded him from the burning tea without hesitation.

Lucas Graves opened his mouth to say something, but he couldn't find the right words. The Pei family was a sore subject, one that couldn't be easily soothed.

The two men stood silently for a while until the doctor finally came out.

"Dr. Morgan, how is she?" Lucas Graves asked.

"We've treated the burns and applied medication. Make sure to apply the ointment in the morning and evening, keep the area clean and dry, and stick to a light diet to avoid infection. If blisters form, bring her back to the hospital," the doctor instructed.

"Will there be scarring?" Adrian Blake's voice was calm, but Lucas Graves glanced at him, catching the subtle tension.

"I'll prescribe a scar treatment. As long as there's no infection and she takes care of it properly, there shouldn't be any lasting marks," the doctor reassured him.
