Sara Hart soaked in the bathtub, the water sprinkled with delicate pink petals that floated on the surface. Even this, Adrian Blake had thoughtfully prepared.
She closed her eyes, trying to chase away the lingering, heated thoughts from earlier. Her heart was still racing from the evening's events.
Grabbing her phone from the nearby counter, she opened her messages and texted Ella Duvall.
[Sara Hart]:
Ella, emergency! Adrian proposed to me tonight and gave me a ton of gifts. What should I give him back? I didn't prepare anything!
She attached two pictures—one of the engagement ring and another of the beautifully wrapped gifts.
Ella Duvall replied almost instantly.
[Ella Duvall]:
!!!!!
What?! Damn, Adrian is amazing! I've seen that diamond ring in magazines—like, many times!
Wow, girl, I'd think you were just showing off your love life if I didn't know you so well!
As for a gift... Girl, just give yourself to him! A soft, sweet wife to kiss and hold—that's the best gift he could ever ask for!
Oh, remember those outfits I sent you? Need more? I can hook you up!
Sara's cheeks flushed as she read Ella Duvall's teasing messages. Her face felt like it was on fire.
[Sara Hart]:
Ella, I'm being serious here!
Another message from Ella Duvall popped up.
[Ella Duvall]:
Okay, okay, I get it! But seriously, there's no time to get him a gift tonight. New Year's is right around the corner—just surprise him then!
And tonight? Come on, girl. It's a special night for you two! Put on one of those outfits I gave you, call him "husband," and trust me, Adrian will be happier than if you gave him any material gift.
Sara's face burned hotter as she read that last message. She sent a pouty emoji in reply and locked her phone.
"Ella is so unreliable..." she muttered under her breath.
Just then, the bathroom door opened.
Adrian stepped inside.
"Ah!" Sara instinctively sank deeper into the water, the warm bath covering her shoulders. "W-Why are you in here?!"
"You've been in here too long. I was worried something might have happened," Adrian replied calmly.
He wore a gray silk pajama set, and for the first time, he had a pair of gold-rimmed glasses perched on his nose. His elegant, refined look and his natural charisma made him even more captivating.
Sara stared for a moment, unconsciously swallowing hard.
"Why... Why are you wearing glasses?"
"I was reviewing some documents," he said, his voice low and steady.
Adrian's gaze lingered on her, taking in the scene before him. The soft light gently glowed over the bathwater, where pink petals floated on the surface. Beneath the petals, glimpses of Sara's smooth, pale skin were visible—like a shimmering pearl hidden underwater.
His dark eyes darkened further, his voice dropping to a husky whisper.
"You've been in here long enough. It's time to come out."
"O-Okay," Sara stammered.
Adrian turned to leave, but just as he reached the door, Sara called out, "Wait! Can you... grab my nightgown for me? It's in the black bag in the wardrobe."
