It was the weekend, and Sara Hart accompanied Adrian Blake back to the old family estate.

The moment they stepped through the front door, a man's displeased voice echoed from inside.

"Mother, what's so good about that girl? Isn't the scandal she caused recently enough?"

"Those were nothing but baseless rumors and slander. It's all been clarified," the elderly Madam Blake countered. "Besides, they're already married. What more do you want?"

"She's not a good match for him! Even if Adrian divorces her, there are plenty of prestigious ladies in North Capital for him to choose from. Finding someone from a compatible family background would be a breeze."

Sara hesitated, feeling awkward. Should she enter or stay outside?

"She's just like that despicable woman, scheming and disgraceful! How much longer do you plan to let her tarnish the Blake family's name?"

"Thomas!" Madam Blake raised her voice in admonishment. Before she could say more, Adrian walked in, holding Sara's hand tightly.

"Adrian..." Madam Blake froze. "Sara, you're both here so early..."

Adrian's gaze turned icy as he looked at his father, Thomas Blake. "There's no need for you to concern yourself with my marriage."

Thomas Blake's chest heaved with anger. "I'm your father! If I don't care, who will?"

Nearby, Karen Carter emerged from another room holding Jimmy Blake, the youngest member of the family. The little boy wanted to run toward Adrian but was stopped by Karen Carter, who whispered, "Daddy and your brother are busy. You can't go now."

The tension in the room thickened as father and son squared off, and Madam Blake sank onto the sofa in defeat. "If you two are going to fight, just do it. I'm too old for this."

Thomas Blake's sharp eyes fixed on Sara, who stood silently beside Adrian. His voice carried the weight of authority.

"Miss Hart, I don't care what motives you had for marrying Adrian, but I hope you understand your place. The Blake family will never accept someone like you. Divorce him while you still have the chance, and you might walk away with some compensation. Dragging this out will only make things ugly for everyone."

Adrian stepped forward, placing himself between Sara and his father. His tone was cold and unwavering. "I married her. Divorce isn't something I've ever considered."

"You..." Thomas Blake's face turned red with fury. "You think you can talk back to me like this? If I'd known this was the outcome, I would've let you go with her back then! As far as I'm concerned, I don't have a son like you!"

Jimmy Blake, witnessing the heated argument, began to sob softly. Karen Carter quickly handed him to the housekeeper and instructed her to take the child outside.

Turning to Adrian, Karen Carter tried to mediate. "Adrian, your father is only thinking of your best interests. Don't be so harsh."

Adrian's gaze turned even colder. "There's no need for you to play the concerned mother."

"How can you talk to her like that? She's your mother!" Thomas Blake roared.

Adrian's entire body tensed, radiating a chilling intensity. The grip on Sara's hand tightened to the point of pain, though she remained silent, her concern for him outweighing her discomfort.

"My mother?" Adrian sneered. "My mother has been dead for years. You were there, weren't you?"

The room fell into an oppressive silence at the mention of this forbidden topic. Karen Carter's face turned pale.

Thomas Blake, now as enraged as a lion, growled, "You ungrateful wretch! You've enjoyed everything the Blake family has given you, only to turn around and disrespect it. If that's how you feel, why didn't you die with her back then?"

"Enough!" Madam Blake banged her cane on the floor, her voice trembling with authority. "If you're going to fight, do it elsewhere!"

Adrian let out a bitter laugh. "Disappointed that I'm still alive, aren't you?"

He turned to Madam Blake, his voice softening slightly. "Grandmother, I'll never forget your kindness. But since everyone's here, let's settle this today."

Her expression darkened with dread. "Adrian, don't..."

Ignoring her, Adrian looked directly at Karen Carter, a mocking smile playing on his lips. "Don't worry. I have no intention of competing with Jimmy Blake for the inheritance. Everything in the Blake family belongs to him."

Karen Carter turned pale. "Adrian, how could you think so little of me?"

Adrian shifted his focus to Thomas Blake. "If you see me as a disgrace, stop pretending to be a magnanimous father. I've enjoyed the Blake family's privileges, but I've earned just as much for the company. Consider us even now."

Thomas Blake's face twisted with rage. "You..."

Adrian's tone remained calm but firm. "As of today, I resign as president of the Blake Corporation. From this moment on, I have nothing to do with the Blake family."

"Adrian..." Madam Blake's voice trembled, her frail hands clutching her cane. "Must it come to this? Are you abandoning your grandmother, too?"

Adrian's gaze softened slightly. "You'll always be my grandmother. I'll visit often."

Thomas Blake slumped onto the sofa, his face ashen. "Let him go! Let's see how far he gets without the Blake family's protection. Don't come crawling back later!"

Adrian's parting words were laced with finality. "Don't worry. I won't."

Adrian stormed out of the estate, pulling Sara along until they reached the car. It wasn't until they were inside that he released her hand.

His expression was stony, his lips pressed into a thin line, his eyes dark and unreadable.

The car ride back to the villa was silent, the tension palpable. Adrian drove fast, his jaw set in grim determination. Sara clutched her seatbelt, wanting to comfort him but unsure how to begin.

Once home, Adrian headed straight to his study without a word, slamming the door shut behind him.

Meanwhile, Adrian's assistant, Charlie Scott, was about to leave for a weekend getaway with his girlfriend when his phone rang.

The moment he answered, Adrian's words froze him in place. "Say that again, Mr. Blake?"

"I'm resigning from Blake Corporation effective immediately. Announce it now."

Charlie Scott gaped, the shock nearly knocking him off his feet. This was bigger than any other crisis he'd faced.

Later that night, Adrian emerged from his study to find Sara pacing outside.

When she saw him, her concern spilled over. "Are you okay?"

He looked at her, his gaze icy. "I'll be announcing my departure from the Blake family. If you want a divorce, just say it."

Sara froze, her heart twisting painfully. "Why would I..."

Before she could finish, Adrian's phone rang, interrupting her.

"Adrian, what's going on?" Lucas Graves's anxious voice came through. "We're all heading to the usual spot. You need to be there."

Adrian hung up without answering Sara's unspoken question.

"I'm going out," he said curtly, striding out the door without looking back.

He couldn't bear to hear her answer.
