YD Technology's Conference Room
Adrian Blake leaned back in his chair, absentmindedly listening to the meeting while constantly glancing at his phone.
He unlocked the screen—no messages.
Group Chat was silent.
The pinned chat at the top displayed Sara's profile picture, but the conversation remained eerily empty.
For the past few days, she had accompanied him to work—arriving together, leaving together.
Sometimes, she curled up under a blanket on his office sofa, watching dramas. Other times, she read academic papers and wrote summaries. If she got tired, she napped in his private lounge.
As long as he looked up, she was there.
But today, she suddenly said she had something to do and didn't come.
She hadn't mentioned what the "something" was.
Adrian frowned. It didn't seem like she was meeting Ella Duvall, because if that were the case, she would have simply said, "I'm going shopping with Ella."
So... what could it be?
And it was already afternoon—she hadn't messaged him all day.
At lunch, when he sent her a Chat asking if she had eaten, she responded with a few brief words—then nothing.
This was unusual.
He carefully replayed their interactions from last night to this morning. She wasn't angry.
Did he go too far last night?
No, that couldn't be it.
She had already forgiven him, even snuggling into his arms as they fell asleep.
She had even given him a good morning kiss before leaving.
So why was she suddenly acting distant?
The manager presenting his report noticed Adrian's furrowed brows and broke out in cold sweat.
Was President Blake dissatisfied?
But he hadn't interrupted, so the manager could only cautiously continue speaking.
After the meeting ended, the manager let out a deep breath of relief, thankful he had survived unscathed.
Back in His Office
Adrian sent another message to Sara:
【What do you want for dinner? Want to eat out, or should I cook for you?】
She didn't reply for half an hour, and when she did, it was brief:
【You cook.】
Still not right.
Sara's usual tone was lighthearted and playful, often accompanied by cute emojis.
This message? Way too formal.
Just then, Charlie Scott entered the office with some documents.
Seeing Adrian still staring at his phone, he hesitated before carefully asking, "President Blake, something on your mind?"
Adrian shot him a glance. "You have a girlfriend, right?"
Charlie Scott froze for a second. "Uh... Yes."
"Then tell me—if your girlfriend suddenly ignores you and acts cold, what does it mean?"
Charlie Scott was stunned.
