sickfic

The moment Chan opens his eyes, he realises Jisung was right.

He spent too much time at the studio, working himself to exhaustion. It weighs him down now, practically suffocating him.

He tries to sit up, but his body refuses to obey his commands. He manages to flop onto his side, a cough rattling his chest.

Shit.

He can't get sick now. He has a meeting with management later, and a track due tomorrow. Not to mention the supervision and guidance the others will require today, since they changed a step in the choreo last night.

Tears well in his eyes, and he curses softly. Or more accurately, he struggles to force the words out, since the exhaustion seems to have pinched his vocal cords. Maybe it's the sickness.

He knows it's his own doing. He shouldn't have worked himself to the bone.

He knows the others will say as much when they find him in this pitiful state.

He would drag himself to the bathroom to avoid the inevitable lecture, yet his body is so tired it takes him multiple tries to sit up, and even then he catches himself swaying. He lets himself sink back onto the cushions, forcing out another curse.

"Hyung? It's time to get up. We're going to be late."

Great.

Changbin pokes his head through the doorway, confusion dissipating into worry as soon as he sees the elder.

"Hyung, are you okay?"

Chan manages a groan in response.

"I'm taking that as a no."

Chan nods. It's all he can manage right now, if he's being honest.

Changbin steps into the room, and Chan turns his gaze from the younger, too tired to track him with his eyes.

A hand, calloused from hours spent at the gym, brushes his forehead.

"You don't have a fever."

Chan closes his eyes, humming in acknowledgement. The bed creaks as the rapper sinks down next to him.

"Hyung, what's wrong? You're worrying me."

"...'m tired."

Chan is so drained, he's surprised he even manages the words.

He cracks his eyes to see Changbin huff, an odd half-smile on his face.

"Hyung, this is exhaustion. There's a difference between that and being tired."

Chan hums again. He can't argue.

His work habits are unhealthy.

He knows that.

Honestly, he has no one to blame but himself.
