A Chan version of my Changbin centric short story

"-Chan. Hyung. Wake up. "

Chan's eyes are so heavy.

Why can't he open them, see whoever it is that is calling his name? Why are his ears still so muffled? Why do his limbs feel so heavy?

Someone lets out a muffled sob.

"He's still out, Sungie."

Chan tries desperately to force his eyes open. Who is crying? One of his kids, but why? Are they hurt, sad, why are they crying? What is wrong?

He needs to help, he needs to be there for them.

But his mind is so foggy he can barely even remember his own name and birthday.

He groans softly, giving up on opening his eyes, merely letting his body relax.

"Hyung? Are you with us?"

Chan manages another groan.

"It's fine hyung. Don't-don't force yourself. Just take it easy."

Jisung.

He can place the voice now.

That's right.

He was supposed to practise with him- why is he crumpled on the ground? At least, he thinks he is- Chan can't feel his body. Everything is numb, disconnected.

"Manager Nim is on his way. He should be here soon."

A new voice.

Why can't Chan place it? Why does this new person sound so unfamiliar?

He can't place them.

He should be able to.

The only ones with access to their dance studio are members of the group.

He tries forcing his eyes open again, still to no avail.

"-this happen?"

Oh.

Oh. They're talking about him, aren't they?

They have to be.

"I don't know. This morning he-"

Yes. Yes, they are.

Chan wants to scream, to cry, because can't they see he is right here? Just because he was unconscious a few minutes ago does not mean that he is incapable of hearing their conversation. Even if he can't open his eyes, his ears are working just fine.

Someone cards their fingers through his hair, and, as his body begins regaining its feeling, he realises that he is laying on someone's lap.
