Wanda and Bianca were sitting on Wanda's bed doing each other's nails. Rocket was even with them getting his claws done. Bianca took lots of pictures and recordings. The whole thing was adorable. But while waiting for everything to dry, Wanda asked, "So is Yoko done hating me yet?"

Bianca rolled her eyes, but her lips held a smile. "She doesn't hate you. I think she's almost over the whole warlock thing. She has been trying her best."

"Is there anything I can do to help? Speed up the process? Prove I'm not evil?"

"I don't think—" she stopped as she recalled the movies Divina made them watch two nights ago because she was feeling nostalgic. And Yoko's response to one particular scene from the second one. A smirk began to form on her lips. "Actually, I think there is one thing you can do."

Wanda began to smile excitedly. "What is it?"

"Once our nails are dry, grab your guitar. We have a song to write."

Enid and Wednesday were in Eugene's room, sitting by his bedside. They were just staring at him in silent for a moment until Wednesday spoke. "I haven't always been against birthdays."

Enid glanced at her, but she was looking right at Eugene. She wasn't sure if Wednesday was talking to her or him. But if it was something she didn't want Enid to hear, she would've told her to leave. Maybe it was another indirect way of explaining her feelings like she did on parents weekends with them and her mom. So Enid decided to just sit and listen.

"Each one reminds me I'm a year closer to death's cold embrace. What's not to like about that? Besides, my parents always made sure my birthdays were memorable. The perfect surprise. The perfect cake. The perfect party games. But now parties and presents and games, it..." Wednesday looked down and swallowed the guilt in her throat. "It all feels so trivial." She looked back up at Eugene. "Goody warned me I was destined to end up alone, and now I fear I may lose the two girls I love." Someone clearing their throat made Wednesday and Enid glance over their shoulders. It was Dr. Kinbott holding some flowers. The two stood up and turned to face her. "Dr. Kinbott."

Kinbott focused on Wednesday. "I haven't seen you since our session with your family, which was...certainly one I won't forget. How are things going with them?"

"My mother and I spent some quality time together. Got our hands dirty."

"Gardening?"

"Grave-digging." Kinbott smiled and hummed awkwardly. "And I managed to keep my father out of prison. What brings you here?"

"Eugene's moms," she gestured to the comatose boy. "I'm working with them. Trauma like this leaves emotional scars on the whole family." She walked over to the empty vase and put the flowers in it. "They had to head home for a few days, so I promised I'd check in on him."

Wednesday grabbed her backpack and Enid's hand. "We'll leave you to it." She began to pull Enid out of the room.

But Kinbott turned to them and asked something that made them stop. "Who's Goody?"

Wednesday turned back to her, annoyed that she had so much of what she had been saying. "She's a very distant cousin. Very distant."

"Sounds like she doesn't see you for who you really are."

"She sees more than you know." She glanced at Eugene before focusing on Kinbott. "I want to assure you I remain as cold and heartless as the first day we met."

Kinbott glanced down at Wednesday and Enid's joined hands. "I doubt a cold, heartless person would be sitting by her friend's bedside feeling some modicum of guilt for his condition. Nor would she fear losing the girls she loves."
