Enid and Wednesday explored the entire woods around the Gates Mansion...but there was still no Wanda. "She's not here, Wednesday!" Enid exclaimed, panicking more than ever now.

Wednesday swallowed her own worry. "Then we go back. Come on!" The two began running back to the mansion. They saw it up ahead and reached the gates just in time to see that blue Cadillac pull out of it and drive away. "Damn it!" They stopped and watched it go. Wednesday thought about chasing it for a moment, but it was a car and she was on foot. Besides, they need to find Wanda, and soon enough it made a turn and was out of sight.

"Come on!" Enid grabbed Wednesday's hand to pull her along, but before they could run through the gate, they heard sirens coming. They looked down the road, opposite way the Cadillac went and saw police cars with their lights on coming their way. "Damnit!" Enid put her hands on her head as she began pacing a couple feet back and forth.

The police cars pulled up, shining Enid and Wednesday with their headlights, and out stepped Sheriff Galpin. "What the hell are you two doing here?"

"House hunting," Wednesday gave the same answer as last time. "You picked a pivotal time to show up." He arrives just as the culprits get away. How convenient.

"Got a call about possible gunshots, so we—"

Enid snapped to Wednesday. "I told you I heard gunshots! We have to find Wanda!" She turned and ran to the mansion.

Wednesday turned to Galpin to explain what they found. "We found the car that hit the mayor, but whoever was driving already drove away with it. There was also an alter to Joseph Crackstone, fresh roses in Laurel Gates old bedroom, and in the basement we found the missing body parts of your victims."

Galpin's back straightened. "Show me."

Wednesday ran after Enid to the mansion with Galpin behind her. They reached the hallway to the basement where Enid stood frozen with hands covering her mouth and nose. Blood was pooled on various spots on the floor, and it splattered the walls. And since it wasn't Enid's or Wednesday's, that left three suspects. One of them Wanda.

Tears were filling in Enid's eyes and it took a moment for the shock to wear off so she could move again. "Wanda!" She ran around the mansion calling her name, but there was no answer.

Galpin grabbed his shoulder radio and spoke into. "We've got some type of crime scene here. Call in forensics."

Wednesday took a deep breath to calm herself. She still needs to show the sheriff everything. So she led him first to the library...but the alter was taken down, no trace it was ever there. She led him upstairs to the bedroom...no fresh roses in sight. And finally to the basement...where everything was gone. "It was all here. The...the...the body parts and the blue Cadillac, the alter, and the bedroom filled with fresh roses."
