Six months had flown by in a whirlwind of races, travel, and moments stolen between the chaos of Lando's career and Lily's modeling. The season had been intense, but Mexico had always been special for Lando. The vibrant atmosphere, the passion of the fans, and now, with Lily by his side, it felt even more important. But today, something was different.
Lily stood beside him in the paddock, wearing sunglasses to shield her eyes from the bright Mexican sun. Her usual glow seemed a little dimmed, and Lando noticed her shifting uncomfortably, taking deep breaths as though trying to calm herself.
"You alright?" Lando asked softly, wrapping an arm around her waist, pulling her closer.
Lily smiled up at him, though it didn't quite reach her eyes. "Yeah, just a bit off today. Maybe something I ate."
Lando frowned, concern etching across his features. "You sure? You've been feeling a bit off for a few days now."
She nodded, leaning into him for support. "It's nothing. I'll be fine. Don't worry about me—you've got a race to focus on."
But Lando wasn't convinced. Even though Lily was trying to play it cool, he could sense something was different. She had been a little more tired lately, her appetite had changed, and though she hadn't mentioned it, he noticed her frequently rubbing her stomach absentmindedly.
As they made their way through the paddock, waving at fans and stopping for a few photos, Lily excused herself. "I'm going to head back to the motorhome for a bit, just need to lie down," she said, her voice softer than usual.
Lando's heart tightened in concern, but he nodded. "I'll check on you before the race, okay?"
Lily gave him a small smile and headed off, leaving Lando to stew in his thoughts. He wasn't sure what was going on, but something in the back of his mind was telling him that this wasn't just a simple stomach bug.
A few hours later, Lando found himself in the driver's briefing, but his mind kept wandering back to Lily. She had texted him saying she was fine, but he couldn't shake the feeling that something was up. He excused himself as soon as he could, heading straight to their motorhome.
When he opened the door, he found Lily curled up on the couch, her hand resting on her stomach. She looked up at him, her expression a mix of exhaustion and something else... something nervous.
"Hey," she said softly, sitting up as he approached.
Lando sat beside her, taking her hand. "Are you sure you're okay? You've been acting a little... different."
Lily looked at him for a moment, her eyes searching his face. She took a deep breath, then smiled softly. "Lando, there's something I need to tell you."
His heart skipped a beat. "What is it?"
Lily bit her lip, her hand instinctively moving to rest on her stomach again. "I've been feeling off because... I'm pregnant."
Lando froze, his mind reeling as the words sank in. Pregnant? He blinked at her, his mouth opening and closing as he tried to process what she had just said.
"You're... pregnant?" he finally managed to say, his voice barely above a whisper.
Lily nodded, her eyes wide with both excitement and nerves. "I took a test a few days ago. I wasn't sure how to tell you. I didn't want to distract you before a race, but... I couldn't keep it a secret anymore."
For a moment, Lando just stared at her, his heart pounding in his chest. Then, a slow smile spread across his face as the realization hit him. He was going to be a dad.
Without a word, he pulled Lily into his arms, hugging her tightly. "You're pregnant," he repeated, this time with a wide grin on his face. "We're going to have a baby?"
Lily laughed softly, nodding as she hugged him back. "Yeah, we are."
Lando pulled back just enough to look at her, his eyes shining with joy. "I can't believe it. This is... this is incredible."
Lily smiled, the nervousness fading as she saw how happy he was. "I was a bit scared to tell you. I didn't know how you'd react."
Lando shook his head, leaning in to kiss her softly. "Scared? Lily, this is the best news ever. I'm... I'm over the moon." He cupped her face in his hands, kissing her again. "You and me... we're going to be parents."
Lily's eyes sparkled as she nodded. "Yeah, we are."
They sat there for a while, wrapped up in the enormity of the moment, their world suddenly feeling so much bigger and brighter. The race, the season, everything seemed to fade into the background as they held each other, excited for the new chapter ahead.
Later, as Lando suited up and prepared for the race, he couldn't stop smiling. His secret was burning a hole in his chest, and though he wasn't ready to tell the world just yet, he couldn't help but feel like the luckiest guy on the planet.
