The morning sun poured into their cozy bedroom, casting a warm glow across the space. Lando lay awake, watching Lily as she softly cradled their daughter, Gemma, in her arms. It was one of those quiet mornings where everything felt perfect the gentle hum of life, the laughter, and the love they shared as a family.
Lily stirred, blinking her eyes open to find Lando's adoring gaze fixed on her. "Good morning," she murmured, smiling as Gemma shifted in her sleep, her tiny hand wrapped around Lily's finger.
"Good morning, love," he replied, leaning over to give her a kiss on the forehead, then a gentle one on Gemma's tiny head. "How about we take her out for a little family day? Something simple just the three of us."
Lily's face lit up. "That sounds perfect. I'd love to spend the day outside with you both."
After a quick breakfast and packing a small bag for Gemma, they set off for a peaceful spot by the lake. It was a picturesque location, with towering trees, a crystal-clear lake, and a gentle breeze that made the day feel like a dream.
Once they arrived, Lando spread out a blanket under the shade of a tree, and they settled in, enjoying the sounds of birds chirping and leaves rustling. Gemma, now awake and alert, looked around with wide, curious eyes, her little fingers reaching out to touch the grass and feel the soft earth beneath her.
"She's going to be a little adventurer, just like her dad," Lily mused, smiling as she watched Lando show Gemma a flower, her tiny fingers grabbing it tightly.
"And her mom," Lando added with a grin. "She has your curiosity, you know. Always looking around, taking in every detail."
They took turns holding Gemma, taking little walks with her by the lake, and watching her fascination with everything around her. Eventually, they found a shady spot to sit down again, with Lando holding Gemma on his lap as he rocked her gently.
At one point, Gemma began to babble, her sweet little voice making them both laugh. She babbled to Lando, who looked as though he were hearing the most important speech in the world, nodding with complete seriousness.
"Is she giving you advice, then?" Lily teased, watching as Lando listened intently to Gemma's gibberish.
"Oh, definitely. She's telling me how to improve my lap times," Lando joked. "Apparently, I need to brake less and accelerate more."
Lily laughed, her heart melting at the sight of them together. It was these little moments—the quiet ones, the silly ones that made her feel like the luckiest woman alive.
As the sun began to set, painting the sky in hues of pink and orange, they packed up and headed home. Gemma had fallen asleep in Lando's arms, her tiny hand resting on his shoulder.
When they finally arrived back home, Lando gently placed her in her crib, and they stood together, watching her sleep.
Lily leaned into Lando, resting her head on his shoulder. "Today was perfect," she whispered.
"Every day with you and Gemma is perfect," he replied, wrapping his arm around her. They stood there for a while, as they left Gemma to sleep.
