The Easter weekend had arrived, bringing with it the promise of a much-needed getaway. Lando and Lily decided it was the perfect time to pack up and escape the bustle of their daily lives. They chose a quiet countryside retreat with rolling hills, blooming flowers, and a cozy cottage perfect for some family bonding.
Daniel was strapped snugly in his car seat, babbling to himself as Lando drove through winding roads. Lily sat beside him, her hand resting on his, a peaceful smile on her face.
"I think Daniel's already loving this trip," Lando said with a chuckle, glancing in the rearview mirror at his son, who was busy chewing on his stuffed bunny.
Lily laughed. "He's definitely easier to please than Gemma was at this age."
They arrived at the cottage just before lunch. It was picturesque, with ivy climbing its stone walls and a garden filled with vibrant tulips and daffodils. As Lando unloaded their bags, Lily carried Daniel inside, marveling at the cozy interior. The fireplace crackled warmly, and the scent of freshly baked bread lingered in the air—a welcome surprise from the retreat staff.
After settling in, they decided to explore the surrounding countryside. Daniel was bundled into his stroller, and the family set off on a trail that led through fields dotted with wildflowers and grazing sheep. Lando took pictures of Lily and Daniel, capturing moments of laughter and the sheer joy of being together.
When they returned to the cottage that evening, the staff had prepared an Easter dinner for them—roast lamb, honey-glazed carrots, and a variety of desserts, including a chocolate egg as big as Daniel's head.
"Look at this, mate!" Lando joked, holding the egg up to Daniel, who reached out eagerly.
"Don't you dare give him that," Lily teased, swatting Lando's arm. "You'll have to deal with the sugar rush!"
After dinner, they lit the fireplace and settled on the couch. Lando held Daniel, who was starting to doze off, while Lily leaned against him, feeling a deep sense of contentment.
"I think we should make this an Easter tradition," Lily said softly, looking up at Lando.
He kissed her forehead. "I couldn't agree more."
