Lily was up before the sun, a rare occurrence that only something as special as Lando's birthday could inspire. She tiptoed around the bedroom, careful not to wake him as she grabbed her things and slipped out. Today was all about surprises—she'd been planning this for weeks, determined to make his birthday unforgettable.
Downstairs, she quickly set up everything she'd prepared: balloons filled the living room, his favorite snacks were artfully arranged on the coffee table, and a small pile of carefully wrapped gifts waited by the couch. She glanced at her phone to check the time. Just one more finishing touch: a homemade breakfast.
In the kitchen, she whipped up Lando's favorite breakfast, pancakes with fresh fruit and a side of crispy bacon. The smell of food filled the air, and just as she finished plating it, she heard footsteps from the stairs.
Lando appeared, rubbing his eyes, looking adorably sleepy. His surprise was immediate as he took in the decorations and the spread laid out just for him.
"Happy birthday, sleepyhead!" Lily beamed, walking over with the plate in her hands.
Lando's face broke into a wide grin as he took it all in. "Wow, Lil... You did all this?"
She nodded, handing him the plate. "Of course. You deserve a day that's all about you."
He laughed, pulling her into a quick hug before grabbing a piece of bacon. "You're amazing, you know that? I don't think anyone's ever gone this far for my birthday."
"Get used to it," she teased, nudging him toward the table. "Because there's more to come!"
They enjoyed breakfast together, laughing and reminiscing, and Lily felt her heart swell watching him so happy and relaxed. After they finished, it was time for presents. She handed him the first one—a new set of racing gloves, customized with his initials.
"Whoa! These are awesome," he said, slipping them on and admiring the fit.
She smiled, handing him the next box. "I thought you'd like them. And this one's from Gemma."
Lando's face softened as he unwrapped the small package to reveal a framed photo of the three of them, Gemma looking up at him with a wide smile. He hugged the frame close, his voice soft. "This is perfect. Thank you, Lil."
Just as he was admiring the photo, the doorbell rang. Lando raised an eyebrow, glancing at her curiously.
"Oh, right!" Lily said, jumping up. "I might have invited a few friends over."
Within minutes, Carlos, Charles, Oscar, and a few more F1 friends poured into the house, carrying gifts and laughing as they teased Lando about getting older. The house filled with energy as everyone gathered around, sharing stories, playing games, and enjoying the day together.
As the day went on, Lily couldn't help but feel grateful. Lando was surrounded by friends, family, and so much love. Later, as the sun began to set, they all headed to the backyard, where Lily had arranged for a small bonfire. They toasted marshmallows, shared laughs, and took turns telling their favorite "Lando" stories, each one funnier than the last.
As the night wound down and the guests began to leave, Lily and Lando found themselves alone under the stars. He pulled her close, his voice full of warmth. "Thank you, Lil. For all of this. I don't think I could have asked for a better birthday."
She wrapped her arms around him, resting her head against his chest. "You deserve it, Lando. And I'll be here every year to make sure it's special."
He smiled, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "You're the best gift I could ever ask for."
