The sun rose over the Aegean Sea, casting a warm golden glow over the serene landscape. The events of the previous evening were still fresh in Lily's mind, but she woke up determined to focus on the good. This was a family holiday, after all, and she wasn't going to let anything ruin it.
"Good morning, love," Lando said softly, leaning over to kiss her forehead as she stirred awake.
Lily smiled, brushing a strand of hair out of her face. "Morning. What time is it?"
"Just after eight," Lando replied. "Gemma's already up, trying to convince Daniel to share his toys. I thought we could all head to the beach today—just us."
Lily's heart warmed. Lando had always known how to make her feel cared for. "That sounds perfect."
An hour later, they were ready. Gemma, in her favorite pink swimsuit, was practically bouncing with excitement as she clutched her little sand bucket. Daniel, dressed in a tiny sun hat and blue swim trunks, was strapped into his stroller, babbling happily.
Lily wore a flowing white cover-up over her navy bikini, her baby bump softly visible beneath the fabric. Lando carried a beach bag and an umbrella, looking effortlessly cool in his board shorts and a loose linen shirt.
"Are we ready, team?" Lando asked, grinning at his family.
"Ready!" Gemma cheered, holding her bucket high like a trophy.
The beach was breathtaking, with its golden sands and turquoise waves gently lapping at the shore. They found a quiet spot under a cluster of palm trees and set up their umbrella and towels.
As soon as they were settled, Gemma bolted toward the water, her laughter echoing across the beach. "Come on, Daddy!" she called, waving for Lando to join her.
"I'm coming, I'm coming!" Lando laughed, chasing after her.
Lily watched them from her spot on the towel, a soft smile on her face. She rocked Daniel gently in her arms, the sound of the waves lulling him into a peaceful nap.
Lando and Gemma splashed in the shallow waves, building sandcastles and collecting seashells. At one point, Lando lifted her onto his shoulders, carrying her through the surf as she squealed with delight.
"Look, Mommy!" Gemma shouted, holding up a shiny shell. "It's for you!"
Lily laughed, clapping her hands. "Thank you, sweetheart! It's beautiful."
As the morning stretched on, the family gathered for a snack under the umbrella. Lily handed out sandwiches while Gemma munched on her favorite fruit snacks.
"You're glowing," Lando said, leaning closer to Lily.
She rolled her eyes playfully. "It's the sunscreen."
"No, it's you," Lando said, his tone sincere. He placed a hand gently on her belly, feeling a soft kick from the baby. "He's excited too."
Lily's smile widened. "He'll love the beach as much as Gemma does, I'm sure."
After lunch, Gemma insisted on burying Lando in the sand. With Lily's help, she managed to cover him up to his chest, leaving only his head and arms free.
"Behold!" Gemma declared, giggling. "Daddy is a sandman now!"
"Very comfy," Lando joked, winking at Lily.
Lily laughed, snapping a photo of the moment.
The afternoon passed in a blissful haze. Daniel woke up from his nap and got his first taste of the sea, his tiny feet dipping into the cool water. He let out a delighted squeal, and Lily held him close, laughing.
As the sun began to dip lower in the sky, painting the horizon in hues of pink and orange, the family sat together on their towels, watching the waves roll in.
"This is perfect," Lily murmured, resting her head on Lando's shoulder.
"It really is," he agreed, wrapping an arm around her.
Gemma leaned against Lily, her eyes heavy with sleep after a day full of excitement. Daniel dozed peacefully in Lando's arms.
