The Dance

Chapter 2 

As Loki led Serenity to the dance floor, her anxiety and shyness was at an all-time high. Serenity didn't know what to expect from this encounter. As Loki pulled her into his arms to dance, her anxiety and shyness kicked in full force. Loki could tell that her shyness and anxiety was at an all-time high, so he did his best to calm her nerves. "Shh..my dear, I won't harm you. I just want to dance with you." he said, softly. Serenity replies, "I'm sorry your highness. I can't help it. I....it's my shyness. I have never been this close to a man before." Loki smiles and replies, "Hmm, I can tell my dear, but you have nothing to fear from me, I assure you." Loki pulls her even closer, her body is now pressed up against his in an intimate embrace. She wore a pink satin off the shoulder ball gown with a low cut back. When Loki puts his hand on her bare back, it sends chills through her body. Loki saw how she shivered when he touched her and it aroused him. He liked the effect that he was having on her. Loki asked in a teasing manner, "Are you cold dear?" Serenity answers, "N....no your majesty." It had dawned on her that he had noticed her shivering at his touch. Loki looks down at Serenity, "Please call me Loki, your majesty is much too formal, and I want this to be as informal as possible." Serenity said, "As you wish, your maj.. I mean Loki." Loki smiled and said, "That's much better don't you think, Serenity?" She gives a shy smile, "Yes, it is."

Just then Odin walks up to the couple, and he questions Loki about not mingling with the other guests. "Loki, my son, why have you not mingled with the other guests? This ball was designed for you and Thor to find wives." Loki was annoyed by his father's interruption, he looked at his father, "I don't want to mingle any longer because I found the one that I want to spend time with." Odin looks Serenity up and down then replies, "Who are you child?" Serenity said with a bow, "My name is Serenity, the goddess of love and purity. My mother is Aphrodite, the goddess of love and my father is Hermes, the messenger of the gods all mighty All Father." Odin looked at Serenity and then said, "Yes, I remember inviting your parents. I was not aware that they had such a beautiful daughter." Serenity bows again, "Thank you all mighty, All Father." Loki watched as his father talked to Serenity secretly wishing that his father would hurry up and go away so that he could spend more time with the beautiful goddess.

As Odin was talking to Serenity, a drunken Thor appears. "Father here you are, I was looking for you." Then Loki sees Serenity, "Hello there beautiful, I'm Thor, the god of thunder and who might you be?" Serenity could tell that Thor was a little drunk, but she tried to be formal with the drunken god. "My name is Serenity, Prince Thor." Thor said in a slurred voice, "Call me Thor darling." In the meantime, Loki was growing increasingly jealous over his brother's behavior. Loki finally speaks up, "She's with me, brother. I think you need to go to your chambers and sleep off your drunken sober." Thor said his voice slurred, "I'm just fine, brother." Loki said, "No you are not, you are making a spectacle of yourself and embarrassing the house of Odin." Odin said, "Your brother is right. You need to go to your chambers and sleep this off before you further embarrass yourself." Thor said, "But father the party's just beginning. Plus, I still haven't found anyone to be my wife." Loki said sarcastically, "And you won't not with you being so drunk. Women don't like that, brother." Thor said, "You found a woman, brother." Loki said, "Yes, I did but I am not drunk either, brother." Thor started to walk off staggering in the process. Odin motions for some guards to come over. When they arrived, one of them asked, "Yes, All Father?" Odin said, "Escort my son, Thor to his chambers so he might sleep off his intoxication." The guards bowed before Odin then left to go off after Thor.

Odin tells Serenity, "I'm sorry that you had to witness one of my sons in that state. It is highly beneath him to do such a thing." Serenity said, "It's ok your highness, I understand." Odin looked over at Loki, "Well, since it seems that you have found someone to spend your time with for the reminding of the ball, I will leave you alone." Loki was glad that his father was finally leaving, "Yes, thank you father. I would like to get back to Serenity." Odin nods then leaves. Loki looks over at Serenity, "Alone at last."
