Chapter 23(Serenity Is Saved)

Aphrodite and Hermes were making their way to the exit with Serenity in Hermes' arms, still unconscious. Hermes looks down and his daughter, "Aphrodite, you should have never struck our daughter. She didn't deserve it." Aphrodite turns around and looks at Hermes, "She didn't deserve it, Hermes? Have you forgotten that she went against us, that she betrayed us. She was supposed to get engaged to one of the sons of Odin and get us in Asgard, but instead she told Loki of our plans, and he threw us out. So, it's only right that we take back our daughter and try again with another prince." Hermes looks down at Serenity's innocent face. Hermes said, "I don't want to do that, Aphrodite." Aphrodite looks at Hermes, "What do you mean you don't want to do that? She's our only daughter and it's her place to give us what we rightfully deserve." Hermes said, "Yes, she is our only daughter, but she deserves to be happy as well, and being here on Asgard with Prince Loki makes her happy." Aphrodite asked, "What about our happiness, Hermes? Don't we deserve to be happy as well?" Hermes said, "We should be happy for our daughter that she found someone to love, that should make us happy." Aphrodite made a face, "What's wrong Hermes? Are you getting afraid of my father and the All Father?" Hermes said, "Your father, Zeus, has made his decision. He told us to leave Serenity alone," Aphrodite said, "I don't care what my father said. Serenity is our daughter, and we should be allowed to do as we please. Now let's stop talking and leave before we are caught." Hermes nodded his head yes; he knew that arguing with his wife was impossible, so he just went along with her.

Just as Aphrodite and Hermes were heading out the door, Loki catches them. "Put my fiancee down!!!!! Now!!!!!! Aphrodite turns around and smiles wickedly, "I don't think so Prince Loki. Since I'm not getting what I want, YOU won't get what you want. She's coming back to Olympus with me and Hermes, and we'll find another prince to marry her off to." Loki's eyes got wide with anger. "I'll be damned if you will take her away and marry her off to some other prince. She's MY finacee and I'm not giving her up without a fight." Aphrodite laughs again. "YOU fight me, you have got to be kidding me. You will lose, young prince." Loki said, "I might be young, but I know how to fight. I've had plenty of practice fighting on the battlefield, Aphrodite. So, it will be YOU who will lose." Aphrodite laughs again, "You really think so Prince Loki. Don't underestimate me." Loki said, "I could say the same thing to you, Aphrodite." This whole time Hermes stood by quietly holding on to Serenity. Loki just noticed that Serenity was not moving in Hermes' arms, "What have you done to Serenity?" Aphrodite looks over her shoulder at Hermes and Serenity, "Oh, she'll be ok." Loki gets even angrier, "That's not what I asked you, Aphrodite. I said, what happened to her?" Hermes says, "Aphrodite slapped her, knocking her unconscious." Loki's eyes got big, "You slapped your own daughter? How could you?" Aphrodite said nonchalantly, "She's a goddess, she can take it." Loki said in an angry voice, "That's not the point you stupid bitch!!!!! She's your own daughter!!! How could you strike her like that!!!!." Aphrodite starts to get mad, "Who are you calling a stupid bitch!!!! I'm a goddess you young fool!" This just sends Loki over the edge, "I'm no fool Aphrodite but you are!!! Do you really think that you can get off of Asgard with Serenity? Everyone knows that she's my finacee and they won't let you leave with her." Aphrodite said, "But she's my daughter first, which gives me the right to take her!"

Just then Aphrodite and Loki hear a booming voice, "She might be your daughter, but she belongs to Loki now!" It was the voice of Zeus. Aphrodite turns around to see not only her father but also Odin. Aphrodite said, "Father, they are trying to take my daughter from me." Zeus said, "Stop it Aphrodite!!! Stop pretending that you care for your daughter because we both know that you don't!" Aphrodite said, "That's not true father. I do care for Serenity. She's my only daughter." Zeus said, "Oh, really. Then why did you try to sell her to the highest bidder?" Aphrodite was at a loss for words, "I.....I.....um....." Zeus said, "Exactly what I thought. You don't care for her. Only what she can bring you, which you didn't get. You are lucky that someone as good and decent as Odin and Loki took her in, instead of her going to someone who would abuse her, but then again you wouldn't care as long as you got what you wanted." Aphrodite just stood there in silence. Zeus said, "Nothing to say daughter? Have I hit a sore spot?" Aphrodite still remains silent. Zeus said, "Just as I thought, you know that you are in the wrong but won't admit it." Aphrodite finally spoke, "I do care for my daughter, but the All Father and Prince Loki failed to hold their end of the deal. Hermes and I were supposed to get some land in Asgard, but they backed out. So, I was taking my daughter back." Zeus said, "Oh, that's not the way it was told to me, daughter." Aphrodite's eyes get big. Zeus sees his daughter's reaction. Zeus continues, "From what I have been told was that you only wanted the land and didn't care whether or not your daughter was happy. What if Odin and Loki had been mean to Serenity, what would you have done then?" Aphrodite looks away. Zeus said, "So, I see, you wouldn't have cared as long as you got the land." Aphrodite starts to speak but Zeus cuts her off, "Silence daughter!!!!! I don't want to hear anymore of your lies. You even went as low as to strike your own daughter just to take her back to Olympus." Aphrodite said, "But...." Zeus just gives her a hard stare and Aphrodite shuts up. Zeus continues, "Do you deny it daughter?" Aphrodite shakes her head no. Zeus then looks over at Hermes, "Give my granddaughter back to her finacee. Now!" Hermes walks over to Loki and hands him Serenity. When Loki sees the mark on Serenity's face, he loses it. "You left a mark on her! How the hell could you do that!!!!." Zeus walks over to Loki and sees the mark on Serenity's face. Zeus then turns to Aphrodite, "Aphrodite!!!!!! You left a mark on your daughter's face!!!." Zeus said, "I should show you how it feels to be strike by someone you love." Zeus starts to raise his hand and Aphrodite starts to plead, "No, father don't. I didn't mean to, please don't hit me." Zeus lowers his hand, "You see daughter, it's no fun to have someone you love to strike you. Just like it was no fun for your daughter to be struck by you. But unlike you, I would have never struck you. I just wanted you to see the fear that you put into your own daughter."

Just then Serenity started to come around. "Oh, my head. What happened?" Serenity puts her hand on her face where Aphrodite had slapped her. "Oh, I remember, mother, you hit me." Aphrodite didn't say a word. Serenity just noticed that she was in Loki's arms, "Loki, what are you doing here?" Loki said, "I came to get you." Zeus said, "Granddaughter, it's all over with now. Your mother will never bother you again." Serenity looks at Zeus, "Grandfather, All Father you are here too." Zeus said, "Yes, granddaughter we are here. When Odin told me that you had gone missing, I immediately came to help find you." Hermes said, "Daughter, I was against this whole thing from the very beginning." Aphrodite said, "Oh, please Hermes, stop sucking up." Hermes said, "I'm not sucking up, I'm telling my daughter the truth." Zeus tells Odin, "I will take Aphrodite and Hermes back to Olympus with me and make sure that they don't cause any more trouble for your house." Odin said, "Yes, that would be a wise thing to do, considering my son is on the verge of losing his composure." Zeus looks at Aphrodite and Hermes, "Come you two!! We are going back to Olympus! Now!!" Aphrodite and Hermes slowly walked behind Zeus, and he led the way out of the palace.
