Serenity Tells Loki Of Her Parents Plan

Chapter 3

Aphrodite watched as Loki and Serenity danced, she told Hermes, "This is it my dear husband. Our daughter is going to be married into the Odin household, and we will finally get what is rightfully due to us......Asgard." Hermes asked, "How do you know that the prince of Asgard will ask her to marry him. You could be wrong my dear wife." Aphrodite said, "Am I not the goddess of love? I know about these things, husband. The young prince has fallen hard for our little girl, and she will be the key in us getting our hands on Asgard." Hermes asked, "What if you're wrong and he doesn't want to marry her, only enjoy her company outside of marriage?" Aphrodite said, "Oh, my dear husband, you don't know our daughter like I do. She will insist on them being married before anything transpires between them. Since the young prince is fond of her, he will undoubtedly do as she wants. Then we will have them right where we want them."

As they danced, Serenity was keeping an eye on her parents. She knew what her parents had in mind, and she didn't want to be a part of it. She was debating whether or not she should tell Loki. She felt like he should know what her parents had in mind, but she wasn't sure how he would treat her afterwards. Loki saw the change in her mood, "My dear, what's wrong? You seem to have something on your mind. Do you want to talk about it?" Serenity said, "Yes, there is something on my mind and I think you should know about it." Loki pulled away slightly looking down at her. "What is it my dear." Serenity took a deep breath and said, "My parents don't really care about me. All they care about is gaining prestige and glory." She stops and takes another deep breath then continues, "They only brought me here to see if you or Thor would fall for me and marry me. So, they could gain power and land in Asgard." She drops her head in shame.

Loki's expression darkens upon hearing Serenity's words. He was angry but not at Serenity, he was mad at her parents. Loki gently takes Serenity by the shoulders and turns her to face him. Her head was still hanging down. Loki lifts Serenity's chin up so that she is looking at him. "Serenity, I'm not mad at you. I am mad at your parents for using you as a pawn in their game to gain prestige and glory. I won't allow this to happen. They will not gain any power or land from Asgard as long as I am around." His fists clenched at his sides. Serenity looks away from Loki too ashamed to look him in the eyes. Then she said softly, "I'll be going now." She turns to leave, and Loki grabs her hand and pulls her back to him. "I don't want you to leave, Serenity. I want you to stay with me." Serenity looks up at Loki, "Why?" She asked curiously. Loki pulls her closer, "Because I have fallen in love with you and don't want you to leave. I want to love and protect you from those who might harm you. I want you to be my wife and queen."
