Loki Goes To See Odin

Chapter 21

When morning came, it found Loki still on the couch. He didn't get any sleep the night before because he missed Serenity too much. It was the same with Serenity, even though she slept in the nice, soft bed, she couldn't sleep either. She missed Loki just as much as he missed her. Frigga knocks on Serenity's door, "Dear, are you awake?" Serenity answered, "Yes, I'm awake. I'll be out in a few minutes." Frigga replied, "No rush dear. I was just checking on you." Serenity said, "Thank you, Frigga." Then Frigga leaves and Serenity gets out of the bed and gets dressed. Then joins Frigga in the living room. Frigga sees Serenity entering the room, "How did you rest dear?" Serenity said, "Not very well, I'm afraid. I missed Loki." Frigga could see the love in her eyes that she had for her son. Frigga said, "Well, after we eat, you can go and visit with him. I'm sure he's anxious to see you." Serenity smiles, "I'm anxious to see him too." Frigga said, "I know you are dear. So, let's eat so you can go and see him." Serenity asked, "Where's the All Father?" Frigga said, "Oh, Odin has already been up and ate his breakfast, and he is now in the throne room attending to daily business." Serenity said, "I wonder if Loki is already up?" Frigga said, "Oh, I'm sure he is dear. We will go and see after breakfast." Serenity nodded her head yes. So, they ate their breakfast.

In Loki's chambers, he was just now getting up. He looked disheveled due to the lack of sleep. As he sat on the edge of the couch, he rubbed his face trying to wake himself up fully. He finally decided to get up and take a shower to wake up completely. As he fixed the shower water, he was reminded of how he had to come into the bathroom to "relieve himself" after touching Serenity the previous morning. He groaned in frustration, then stepped into the shower. As the warm waters fell over his body, he couldn't stop thinking about Serenity. He suddenly started to touch himself as he thought about Serenity. Once he realized what he was doing to stop. He stepped out of the shower and walked into his bedroom and got dressed. Just as he was finishing getting dressed, there was a knock on his door. He walks slowly to the door and asks, "Who is it?" "Loki, it's me. Can I come in?" It was Serenity's sweet voice. Loki's heart suddenly came alive again. "Yes, of course, my love. Please come in." Serenity walks in the room and her heart starts to flutter upon seeing Loki. Loki's eyes lit up with excitement. Then he sees his mother walking behind Serenity. "Hello, mother. How are you this morning?" Frigga said, "I'm quite well, my son. I thought I would escort Serenity to your chambers." Frigga saw how Loki and Serenity were looking at each other. "Well, I guess I'll be going now. Serenity is safe here with you son." Loki just nodded yes, not wanting to take his eyes off of Serenity. Frigga smiles and then leaves.

As soon as Frigga was gone, Loki runs up to Serenity and grabs her in his arms. "Oh, baby I have missed you so much." Serenity said, "I have also missed you. Even though it's only been one night, it seems like an eternity." Loki said, "Yes, baby it's only been one night but it does feel like an eternity since I've held you in my arms." Serenity glanced over at the couch, and she noticed that he must have slept on it because there was a pillow and a blanket on it. "Loki." Loki answered, "Yes, baby." She asked, "Did you sleep on the couch last night?" Loki looked at the couch and noticed that he had not yet picked up the blanket and pillow. "Yes, baby, I did. I couldn't sleep in my bed. So, I just slept on the couch." Serenity asked, "Why couldn't you sleep in your bed?" Loki smiles at Serenity and cups her cheek in his head, "Because it reminded me too much of you and I couldn't bear to sleep in bed without you beside me. So, I slept on that damn uncomfortable couch." Serenity said, "But Loki, you are too tall to sleep comfortably on the couch." Loki smiles and said, "You're telling me." He laughed, Serenity didn't smile because she was too upset. Loki noticed her not smiling, "Darling, I'm ok, really, I am. I'll admit I had a restless night but I'm ok." Serenity said, "You need to sleep in your bed tonight." It was then Loki's turn not to smile, "I can't darling. I can't sleep in the bed, not without you beside me." Serenity drops her head, "But I won't be able to sleep with you until after we are married, and we still have a few more days to wait." Loki's expression changes, "Don't remind me darling. I hate that my father refuses to let us stay together, knowing that we are to be wed in a few days." Serenity said, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you." Loki rubs her cheek, "You didn't upset me darling. I'm just mad at my father, not you."

As they stood there in each other's arms, there was a knock-on Loki's door. "Damn it to hell, it never fails when we are trying to get close, someone has to interfere." Loki answers in an annoyed voice, "Who is it?" The voice answered, "Sire, it's the captain of the royal guard. The All Father requests your presence in the throne room." Loki gets really agitated, "Tell the old man I'm busy." The captain of the royal guard said, "Sire, he said it's important." Serenity could tell that Loki was getting upset, so she tried to calm him down by rubbing his arms. "Loki, maybe you had better go. I'm sure the All Father would not send for you unless it was important." Feeling Serenity rubbing his arms calms him down some. Loki took a deep breath and exhaled, "Alright darling, if you think so. I'll go and see what the old man wants." Serenity smiles warmly at Loki. "But I want you to stay with my mother so that you will be well protected." Serenity said, "I was planning on going to see my brother for a while." Loki said, "That will be ok too, dear." Serenity said, "So, it's settled then." Loki said, "Yes, it's settled. You go and visit with your brother, and I'll go and see what the old man wants, this time." Serenity said, "Loki." Loki looks at Serenity, "Yes dear." She points her small finger at him, "Stop calling your father, old man he's your father." Loki laughs a little bit. "Alright dear, I'll stop calling him old man. I'll leave now to see my father." Serenity smiles. Then Loki leaves to see what Odin wanted and Serenity leaves to go see her brother.......but she never makes it to her brother's.
