" Hey, Wisty?"

Wisty looked at her brother. " Yeah?"

" Take care of the Pokemon for me."

Wisty raised a brow, but before she could speak, Ash said the unthinkable.

" They're yours now. I quit."

Wisty froze in her spot. " A... Are you okay?"

Ash didn't respond. " Here, you'll need this."

He threw her a Poke Ball, and Wisty caught it. She turned it around, and brushed the symbol.

" Ash....." Wisty looked up. " Ash, please. Don't do it! You know as well as I do those letters mean nothing! Even Gary agreed!"

" You know as well as I do Gary was only trying to make me feel better!" Ash shot back.

" Ash, that's not true." Gary said softly. " I didn't say it to make you feel better. I said it because it's true."

Ash didn't say anything. He knelt in front of Pikachu. " Pikachu, listen to my sister, you got that?"

" Pika pi."

Ash turned and walked away.

" Pika pi! Chu!" Pikachu ran to Ash, and Ash smiled slightly.

" Pikachu, you need a better trainer. So just.... GOODBYE!"

With that, he ran as fast as he could through the forest, leaving everyone rooted in their spot.

" Ash...." Wisty whispered.

Then she yelled, " ASH KETCHUM GET BACK HERE RIGHT THIS INSTANT!"

" Wisty, he'll be fine." Gary assured her, but he wasn't so convinced himself.

Wisty whirled to face him. " You don't understand!" Wisty said desperately. " He's not going to be okay!"

She threw a Pokeball. " Bay leaf, I choose you!"

" Bayyyyyleaf!"

" Bayleaf, follow me. Pikachu, Snowy, Altaria, you too."

Gary reached and grabbed her hand. " Wisty, you can't just go into the forest willy nilly. You need a plan."
