"Just like every other creature, they deserve our consideration and our respect."
"Good one, professor." A smug-looking girl leaned in the doorway, winking at Ash. "Hiya, Ash."
Ash groaned, running a hand through his hair. "What are you doing here, Wisty?"
Wisty rolled her eyes dramatically. "Something you two lovebirds wouldn't think of." With that, she turned sharply on her heel and stormed out of the room, her frustration palpable in the air.
Gary stared at the door she had just exited, confusion written across his face. "What's with her?"
"She's angry," Professor Oak replied, glancing toward the window as Wisty's figure grew smaller in the distance.
"Yeah, but on what?" Misty asked, crossing her arms in concern.
Oak sighed, his expression thoughtful. "It's possible—maybe—she feels ignored."
Ash felt a pang of guilt. He rushed to the window, and the others followed. They watched as Wisty wandered aimlessly outside, throwing sticks at trees and kicking rocks. Each time she sent a stone skittering across the ground, a flicker of frustration crossed her face.
"I didn’t know my sister felt that way," Ash said quietly, his brow furrowing with concern.
Wisty, standing a few yards away, suddenly shouted, "You know what? You two are just so dumb! You're both selfish!" Her voice echoed through the courtyard, surprising Ash and the others. The statement hung in the air like a thundercloud, heavy and charged.
"What?" Gary exclaimed, eyes wide. "Where did that come from?"
Oak looked concerned. "It's clear she’s feeling neglected. We need to reach out to her."
Just then, Wisty turned and walked away, her Eevee trailing closely beside her. The small Pokémon looked up at its trainer with concern, sensing her turmoil.
Brock, who had been quietly observing, nodded decisively. "We should go after her."
With that, Ash, Misty, Brock, and Gary dashed out of the building. They sprinted across the courtyard, desperately trying to catch up with Wisty, but she was surprisingly fast.
“Wisty, wait!” Ash shouted, but she didn’t turn around.
“Why is she so quick?” Misty panted, trying to keep pace.
“Because she’s upset,” Brock explained, his focus trained on Wisty’s retreating figure. “And when she’s upset, she’s on a mission.”
Thankfully, they had Eevee to help track her down. The little Pokémon looked back at them, then darted ahead, its instincts kicking in as it raced to catch up with Wisty.
Finally, they found Wisty sitting on a grassy hill, staring up at the clouds with a bitter expression. She muttered to herself, her shoulders slumping as she ranted quietly, "No one likes me... I'm just in the way... blah blah...”
Eevee approached cautiously, nuzzling Wisty’s leg, trying to offer comfort. But she merely brushed it off, lost in her negative thoughts.
“Wisty, please!” Ash pleaded as he and the others reached her. "We're sorry! We didn’t mean to ignore you!"
When Wisty glanced up at them, her eyes were glistening with unshed tears. "You don't understand! You guys just... you just have each other and forget about me!" Her voice cracked, revealing the hurt underneath her bravado.
Without thinking, Ash rushed forward, wrapping his arms around Wisty in a tight hug. "That's not true! We could never forget about you! You’re our sister; you’re important to us!"
Wisty stiffened at first, surprised by the sudden embrace, but then she melted into it, the warmth of Ash’s affection washing over her. “But you and Gary are always off doing your own thing, and I feel... left out,” she admitted, her voice muffled against Ash’s shoulder.
“It’s not that we don’t care,” Gary chimed in, stepping forward. “We just get caught up in our adventures. We’re really sorry, Wisty. We want you to be a part of it all.”
Ash squeezed her tighter. "You can always come with us. We need you! I need you!"
As Wisty finally let go of her bitterness, her Eevee curled up beside her, adding its comforting presence to the moment. She felt warmth spread through her, dissolving the wall of resentment she had built around herself. “Really? You mean it?” she asked, her voice softening.
“Of course!” Brock chimed in, grinning. “You're a vital part of our team. We wouldn’t be complete without you.”
Feeling overwhelmed, Wisty nodded, tears spilling down her cheeks, but this time they were tears of relief. “I... I just wanted to feel included,” she murmured, finally allowing herself to feel vulnerable.
“I promise we’ll do better,” Ash said earnestly, pulling back to look into her eyes. “You’re my sister, and you deserve to feel valued. I’ll make sure of it.”
Wisty smiled through her tears, her heart lighter. “Okay,” she replied, her voice gaining strength. “I’d like that.”
