" You see? Gary is Gary Oak, grandson of Professor Oak ."

" Oh, then you must write Pokemon Poetry too! Let's hear a poem, please!"

" Huh?!" Gary looked confused and raised a brow.

Luckily ( or unluckily) ash was there.

He put a hand around Gary and explained to Dawn, " you see, Gary is more of a researcher than a Poet. In fact, last time we were writing poems Gary wrote one about -"

" Something you do not need to know!" Gary quickly said as he cut Ash off.

Ash rolled his eyes. " Fine. The last last time we wrote poetry Gary wrote about -"

" Something!"

Ash groaned. " Oh, come on!"

" Ash Ketchum you are not telling him any of the poems I try to write."

" Wait, so he can't write poetry?* Dawn sounded sad

Ash quickly yelped, " oh, he can! He just needs to be in the right mood, eight setting, right people, right Pokemon, right pen, right paper type, rig-*

" Okay okay we get it!" Gary sighed.

Ash smirked. " You're welcome."

Dawn giggled, watching the exchange between Ash and Gary. "So, Gary really is the perfectionist type, huh?"

Gary sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "It’s not like that. I just don’t like sharing half-baked work."

Ash grinned mischievously. "Gary, come on. Just one poem? For old time’s sake?"

Gary gave him a deadpan look. "I’d rather not."

Ash nudged him. "What about that one you wrote about evolution? It was pretty deep!"

Gary flushed a little. "That was for research, not for entertainment."

Dawn perked up, intrigued. "Oh, I’d love to hear it!"

Gary groaned but finally gave in. "Fine... but if you laugh, I’m blaming Ash."

Clearing his throat, Gary recited:

"Through time and battle, they grow and change,
From simple forms, to something strange.
A spark, a flame, a tail, a wing—
In evolution, they find their sting."

Ash clapped dramatically. "Bravo! You see? That’s Gary Oak for you!"

Gary shot Ash a look. "I’m never doing that again."

Dawn smiled. "I think it was great! Who knew you were such a poet, Gary?"

Gary crossed his arms, looking away. "Yeah, yeah. Let’s move on."

" Stay healthy and strong and you'll never go wrong!"

" Stay healthy and strong and you'll never go wrong!"

" Good one, Gary."

" Spoken like a true poet."

Ash grinned. " That poetry took a lot of work to get right, Dawn. Hey, let me tell you the first one Gary wrote! It was about -*

" No one!" Gary sighed. " No. One!*

Ash nudged his best friend. " Come oooooon. Loosen up!"

" I will NOT loosen up when you're around to embarrass me."

Ash grinned, clearly enjoying himself. "Oh, come on, Gary! You remember the first poem you wrote? It went something like this..."

Ash cleared his throat and began to recite dramatically:

"Fhshfdddhddjdudn vj jcj k I k I icucicudufldoy,
Ick kcucichxj heck k k j k hxjck jhzktKyxludpuflicuduod36922,
The world of Pokémon is vast and true,
With battles to fight and journeys anew."

Gary looked horrified. "Ash, that’s... not even close to what I wrote!"

Dawn blinked, trying to follow Ash's ridiculous recitation. "Uh... what was that?"

Ash chuckled and shrugged. "It was a work in progress, okay? Gary was still figuring out his style back then."

Gary groaned, burying his face in his hands. "I can’t believe you remember that gibberish."

Dawn laughed, shaking her head. "Well, at least you’ve come a long way since then, Gary."

Gary muttered, "Thanks, I guess..." then turned to Ash. "Remind me again why I’m still friends with you?"

Ash just grinned wider. "Because I make life interesting!"
