" Come on, Charmander, hang in there!" Ash begged as he looked at his Pokemon while running.

" Char...." It said weakly.

Misty glanced at it. " Why would it leave without telling us?"

Brock panted and shrugged. " I dunno. It must have found something outside and wanted to check it out."

Ash looked at his Charmander. It looked weaker than ever

" We have to take it to Gary, now!" Ash said urgently as he looked up at the lab.

Misty sighed as she ran. " We're not gonna make it in time."

" Oh yes we will." Ash said, determination in his voice. With a burst of speed, he ran through the gates and up to the observatory, his sneakers splashing water everywhere.

When Ash got to the door he knocked loudly. " Hold it, Charmander. Just hold on!"

Gary came at the door. He was surprised to see Ash. " Ash! What are you-"

Ash shoved Charmander into Gary's arms. " You've got to do something, Gary?" He said desperately. " He's one of my best friends!"

Gary nodded. " I'll do what I can."

Misty and Brock ran in and stood at the door, watching Ash stand there, frozen.

Gary came out of the emergency room, and Ash grabbed his friend by the shoulders and shook him

" Did you do something?! Is he okay? What did you do? Is he awake? Is he unconscious? Is he-"

" Ash, calm down!" Gary said firmly. " Take a deep breath."

" I can't!" Ash said as he fanned himself. " I can't! Gary, please tell me!"

" Charmander will be okay. I managed to get the flame up a bit. But why was it outside?"

" We don't know." Misty piped up from the couch. " All we know is Ash couldn't find it and looked out to see it in the rain."

Gary rubbed his temples. " You don't think it saw its old trainer?"

Brock gasped. " That could be possible."

" But what was his trainer doing in Pallet?" Misty asked

Gary looked at his now pacing friend and sighed. " I don't know. Could be because of the gym here. But if you'll excuse me."

He walked over to Ash, who was walking in a circle. " Ash, calm down."

Ash didn't even hear. He was zoned out.

Why would Charmander risk its life? It knows it can't go in water!

And how was Charmander.

Ash's eyes drifted to the window, which showcased a dreary and wet world. He walked to the window and pressed his nose to the glass. " Wonder why he would do that...." Ash muttered.

" Oh, hello, Ash." A voice said from behind him.

Ash didn't even turn. " Good afternoon, Professor. I'm sorry for the sudden drop in."

" Charmander was found in the rain and they rushed it to me." Gary explained.

" I see. Is Charmander okay?"

Gary nodded. " Yep. I stabilized it."

" Good. But I see Charmander isn't the only one who needs stabilization."

Gary's eyes drifted to Ash. " Yeah, I know. He just won't settle down."

" Take him to your room." Gary suggested. " What always used to help."
