Gary sighed as he lay in his bed, staring at the ceiling.

He turned and sat on his elbow, glancing at the air mattress on the ground which held a sleeping grandfather.

Then he furrowed his brow and walked to Ash's mattress.

" Ash?* He whispered as he walked to Ash's bed.

Nothing.

" Ash?" He tried again.

Still nothing.

Gary reached and out a hand under the blanket.

He only felt pillows.

Gary groaned. " Oh, this is just great."

He quickly ran out of his room, down the lab stairs, and flung the front door open.

There sat Ash, staring up at the sky. He barely noticed Gary until Gary walked up in front of him, arms crossed.

" Hiya, Gary." He said. " Why are you wearing your nightsuit?"

Gary pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration, trying to suppress the irritation boiling inside him. "It's called pajamas, Ash. And I could ask you the same thing. What are you doing out here at this hour?"

Ash, still sprawled on the grass, tilted his head back to look up at Gary. The stars twinkled overhead, and the moon cast a soft glow over the clearing. "I was just thinking," he replied casually, as if it were completely normal to be outside at midnight.

"Thinking?" Gary repeated incredulously. "You can’t just wander off in the middle of the night! You scared me half to death. What if something happened to you?"

Ash shrugged, unbothered. "Nothing happened. Just me, Pikachu, and the stars." He gestured to his faithful companion, who was curled up beside him, dozing peacefully.

Gary huffed, his arms still crossed. "Yeah, well, it’s still dangerous. You never know what could be lurking around here at night."

“C’mon, Gary! It’s just the night sky. I wanted to see it without all the lab lights.” Ash sat up, brushing grass off his pajamas. “And besides, Pikachu is here to protect me.” He grinned, nudging Pikachu, who merely grunted and snuggled deeper into his cozy spot.

Gary sighed, his annoyance fading as he looked at his friend’s innocent smile. "I just worry about you, you know? You have a habit of getting into trouble."

"Yeah, but that’s what makes it fun!" Ash laughed, eyes sparkling with excitement. "Adventure awaits, right? We can’t just be cooped up all the time."

Gary shook his head, unable to suppress a smile. "You really are something else, Ash."

“Thanks! I try,” Ash replied, his eyes returning to the stars. "Look at them, Gary! They're so bright tonight. It’s like they’re all telling stories.”

Gary glanced up, momentarily captivated by the sight of the constellations. “Yeah, I guess it is kind of nice.” He leaned against a nearby tree, crossing his arms again, but this time in a more relaxed manner.

“See? I knew you’d like it.” Ash beamed, his enthusiasm contagious. “We should do this more often!”

"Only if you promise not to sneak off like this again," Gary replied, raising an eyebrow.

"Deal!" Ash exclaimed, raising his hand for a high-five, which Gary reluctantly returned.

Just then, Pikachu yawned and stretched, opening one eye to look up at Ash. "Pika...?"

"See? Even Pikachu thinks this is great!" Ash said, grinning.

Gary rolled his eyes but felt a warmth in his chest. "Fine, but if we’re doing this, we should get some blankets or something. It’s going to get cold out here."
