Hinata's POV
After leaving the last in we had gone to we were finally on the road made by Tempest. I was still surprised they had signs to show how far you are from the city. Along with the road being immaculately maintained by the workers and it even being enchanted as well. There were camping areas if you couldn't make it to any inns for a night and the whole travel there felt like a camping trip. To be honest it was a very relaxing trip the whole time we traveled. The guards on the roads ensured no one would foolishly try to start something on Tempests turf. The guards all seemed to be at least of B rank or higher on average, which is just a ridiculous standard to have in all guards. I know most guards as only at C rank or lower most professionals at that level are soldiers in other countries as it would earn them more. What kind of incentives did he give them so they would want to work as guards? While traveling with my subordinates over the past few days finally felt like this mission might go smoothly with no problems, oh how wrong I was. It was on the fifth day as we traveled I noticed an odd sound in the air. The others beside me did as well. They were the sounds of battle. Without hesitation I ran to give my aid to whoever needed it. It must be a strong monster for what sounds like a large force to engage it alone.
Litus- "Lady Hinata wait! We don't know if they need our help or not."
Hinata- "Regardless if they do or not we will still go just in case they will need us." I say as I continue to spur my horse towards the battle.
When we all arrive we come across a battle that I hoped wasn't true at all. Crusader knights were fighting the forces of Tempest. It was something I was hoping to stop from happening at all costs. From what I saw the crusaders had no chance of victory in the slightest. Hobgoblins that didn't die and demons working together. There were even what looked to be evolved Gozu and Mezu species as well, there were even three giants as well and they were the foot soldiers. The higher rank ones looked to be a higher rank ogre, likely a oni. There are also a few higher rank demons, and some others near the one thing I wished to not fight again, Rimuru Tempest himself. Each being near him felt as strong or stronger than me alone.
Litus- "What is happening here?"
Fritz- "Why are our forces here?"
Bacchus- "It appears our troops have chosen to disobey orders for some reason."
So they caught up with me then. It seems that Bacchus caught on the quickest at least.
Fritz- "What are those monsters over there even? They are definitely not just normal monsters right? They feel really strong for some reason."
Litus- "Lady Hinata aren't the-."
Hinata- "You don't need to say it Litus. They are all awakened. All of them."
Litus- "Well that too but, previous demon lords Karrion, Frey are here as well."
Bacchus- "Then, we stand no chance against them all."
Fritz- "How did the seven days think we could ever face such a force alone?"
Hinata- "They didn't think we could. They just wanted us to fight against Tempest so we'd all be killed and at best we'd take sone of the monsters with us. Their cowardice and intentions to cause a disturbance with Tempest is clear. Now we can only hope to somehow win this battle and maybe get a good negotiation foothold for ourselves in the future."
Litus- "That seems impossible doesn't it?"
Hinata- "If this is the plan of the seven days then there is more to it. We can only hope they did t launch this attack with no plan at all."
