45. Meetings

     Gazel's POV

I received an interesting report recently about how Tempest was attacked by Falmuth. I thought to send reinforcements but realized that there was no point. Just having that primordial demon there was enough to prove the power disparity. But Rimuru might want to meet me for guidance so I'll head there with that in mind. I know he doesn't run the country on paper but everyone with a brain knows the truth. I know they made a pact with Blumund recently from what Anrietta told me. I also heard from Anrietta that more powerful individuals have been joining Tempest recently as well. That and with the report I've just received makes going to visit Tempest a must have.

Gazel- "Anrietta, are you sure that the Falmuth army has been wiped out?"

Anrietta- "Yes my lord I'm certain it has been. Even the bodies were removed from the battlefield as well."

Gazel- "This could be used to our advantage but it might be a sign that something has gone wrong as well. Anything else you wish to report to us?"

Anrietta- "Well as I was coming back to report I saw everyone in Tempest start to fall asleep. Not everyone but a lot of them did. I also saw a few signs that the storm dragon had returned as well. I can't confirm this however since it happened as I was leaving."

Jaine- "My lord this sounds to me like a harvest festival has taken place. Going to Tempest now will be even more dangerous than before. Especially if all the monsters there have evolved as well. For an individual to become a demon lord there I believe their are very few who qualify for it."

Vaughn- "Ya like who?"

Jaine- "Like the primal demon who now serves and lives there. The leader himself or perhaps his own daughter maybe? I'm not sure but based on the fact all of the people of Tempest went unconscious around the same time leads me to believe it's the leader himself."

Gazel- "That sounds likely Jaine. But if he has already awakened then it's likely someone else. I'd venture to guess his daughter has instead."

Jaine- "Would he put his own child through such a thing my lord? He seemed hesitant before to let her go into danger when here before?"

Gazel- "That was when she still didn't know how the world worked. Now however she seemed to be getting the opportunity to travel a lot more around the boarders of Tempest according to older reports. Along with the fact he let her defeat the orc lord leads me to believe he's helping her grow strong enough to protect herself. Something any parent would want for their kid. This world is dangerous after all."

Vaughn- "I'd agree with his majesty on this. I'd want my child to be that powerful if I could as well. Very few beings would even be able to harm such an individual at that level of power."

Jaine- "Yes but the balance of-."

Gazel- "The balance of power has long since been broken Jaine. We need to adapt to this change instead of fight against it. It broke long ago especially when demon lord Milim decided to live in Tempest as the adopted daughter of their ruler. Keep in mind that this is what he lets people know. I can't imagine what powerful individuals he truly holds in his domain currently."

Jaine- "This is then more of a reason you shouldn't go isn't it?"

Gazel- "No the opposite actually. I must go so I can see for myself what is actually there. I also need to go so I can possibly use this attack as a way to gain more influence in Tempest itself. By showing my willingness to help I can gain more favor with this new growing power near us. Doing so will also help secure our own borders against Tempest if need be. It will also help us prepare for the inevitable invasion of the empire as well. Having such a powerful ally in that situation is beneficial yes?"
