Third Person POV- years later, after the traumatic incident
It has been a few years since Y/N found out about the whole birthday party thing and graduated from university. Y/N and Kazuha had decided to take things to another level.
Nervous?" Minji's head poked inside Y/N's dressing room, looking way too pleased with herself at the moment.
Y/N sighed dramatically, straightening her tie before taking it off and trying another one. "An amusing question to ask someone getting married, Kim Minji. I mean, really, what gives you that impression? Is it the trembling hands or my existential dread?"
"It's not like it's a funeral," Minji shot back with a smirk, crossing her arms and leaning against the wall.
"Speak for yourself," Y/N retorted, rolling her eyes as she rifled through the selection of ties. "I'm about to tie the knot, and it feels more like I'm signing up for a lifetime supply of awkward family dinners. How's your relationship with Hanni going, by the way?"
"It's good and strong," Minji replied, a smile spreading across her face.
Y/N smirked. "Great. So is my resolve to not wear anything resembling black today. I'm getting married, not mourning my single life!"
With that, she held up a vibrant pink tie. "Thoughts? Should I double as a cotton candy vendor at this wedding or go simple?"
Minji raised an eyebrow. "That's a choice. But you gotta hurry, Y/N. Pick the black one."
Y/N shot her friend a dirty look. "I'm going to a wedding, not a funeral! My shirt is already black, Minji! Do I really need to look like I'm auditioning for a goth band?"
"Then the white one," she suggested with a small chuckle, clearly enjoying this back-and-forth.
"Fine, but if red wine gets spilt on me, you're paying for the laundry," Y/N declared, tying the white tie around her collared shirt with exaggerated care.
"Deal! Now let's go!" Minji exclaimed, practically bounding over and grabbing Y/N's arm, pulling her along with a rough enthusiasm that would have made a bulldozer proud.
"Minji, I said no makeup!" Y/N hissed, narrowing her eyes as they neared the designated room.
"Oh, come on, it's just a little touch-up! Have you met my makeup skills? They're about as essential as air for this event!" Minji responded, completely unfazed by Y/N's protests.
With a deep breath, Y/N resigned herself as Minji opened the door, revealing the entire squad gathered inside, each of them wearing expressions that oscillated between excitement and the kind of mischief that screamed, "We're about to do something ridiculous."
Y/N's siblings were by her side in an instant. Yeji was complaining about how tall she had grown again and how she was now the shortest in the Hwang family. Minji was choking on air since she was laughing the hardest among the "Trauma Survivor Squad". Yujin and Wonyoung, who had let go of the first stage of their relationship and are now married, were criticising Y/N's overall wedding fit.
"Is that really what you're wearing to get married?" Wonyoung quipped, hands on her hips, her eyes scanning Y/N up and down as if she were judging a fashion show. "I thought you'd at least try to look somewhat presentable. I mean, you know, for your big day and all."
"Excuse me, Miss Perfectly Coordinated Bride," Y/N shot back, raising an eyebrow. "I remember you showing up to my last birthday in a T-shirt that looked like it survived a food fight. Let's not act all high and mighty here."
"Touché," Yujin laughed, nudging Wonyoung, who was dutifully trying to keep a straight face. "You know I love you, Y/N, but you really do look like you're ready to go play mini-golf instead of saying, 'I do.'"
