After Damian selected his two core abilities he let out a long sigh.
"That wasn't easy." He would have scratched his head if he had one but he didn't so he settled for bobbing up and down a little, "Should I have taken a bloodline ability? I would have been really strong from the start if I had done that. I could have also maxed out my nature affinity. Based on what I learned about affinities the stronger your nature affinity is the easier it is to use related ninjutsu. <Limited Teleportation> was also something I had my eye on."
He floated around in a few circles and calmed down.
"I made good choices. My abilities will give me a boost, but it isn't until I've grown a little that I'll have a noticeable advantage over others."
"The key to my build is that it relies on hard work. Most people lack the motivation to work hard, but that's not my problem. I have six very strong sources of motivation. I won't be as talented as some people, but I'll work harder than anyone else. I want to be reunited with my family as soon as possible and I want to be able to keep them all safe. I'm not going to let them die like last time."
Damian had many doubts about the future. Even though he tried to encourage himself he couldn't shake away the feeling that he'd fail to protect his family in this life just like he failed to protect them in his last one.
"Sigh... It's such a dangerous world. Am I really going to be able to do it?"
Damian had selected his core abilities and now he moved onto his second most important choice.
"I have to make my party selections. I have to choose my starting location, time period, and family background. Once I have that locked in, I'll need to do it for all my family members too."
He looked through the options, "That's good... oh... it would be good to select a major village... I should be safe until I can grow that way..." he quickly made a few choices.
Damian – Party Leader
<Time of Peace>
<Major Village>
<Minor Clan>
All these options cost him about 1800 points.
"This should give me a good start and leave me with enough points to give my family a good beginning too."
He pulled up the list of his party members. "Ah... they're all here. Every one of them. I never thought I'd be this close to them again."
He looked lovingly at the list of six party members on his system display. He recalled each of their faces and voices to mind one by one. There was Amy, his beloved, Levi, his firstborn and the one who taught him how to be a good dad, Shin, his second oldest and most responsible son, Lilly and Luna, his beautiful twin daughters who danced through the world like it was a land of wonder, and lastly his son Mason who loved to build and organize his world.
"I'm not going to let them die this time."
...
"Amy's capable..." He selected several options for her.
Amy – Wife
<3 year after party leader>
<Same country as party leader>
<Ninja>
"I want Amy to start close to me. She's very capable, but I don't want to be separated from her for very long. I could have us start at the same time, but I want to be able to find her quickly and that means I need to be a few years older than her."
