Kazuya sensed Dandin's discomfort and laughed. "It's a wide world out here. I don't recommend leaving the village by yourself, but it's a good idea for you to go with your elders and parents sometimes. If the village is ever attacked, you'll have more options when you look for refuge. The shelters are good, but they can't stop everything.
Dandin looked around and observed the forest and hills he stood in. They were quiet, peaceful, green and full of life. He breathed in the air and let his mind relax.
"Dandin, I want to see how well your survival skills have developed. Please make us breakfast, but you can only cook what you can find in the forest. I'll be enjoying my morning. Don't let me disturb you."
Dandin nodded his head and flickered away. He muttered, "Kazuya's test is way different than I expected. But I like this. Better than getting punched and kicked by Zanko-sama."
Dandin used the clone hand sign and created three shadow clones to help him. The three clones split in all directions as they looked for wild plants and some animals to eat.
One quickly found a river, which wasn't hard in the Land of Rivers, and observed the waters. After a minute or two he pulled a kunai from his pouch and tied a string to it. He skillfully threw the kunai towards the river. However, right before his kunai hit the water it was deflected by a rock!
The clone suddenly noticed that Kazuya had sat at the shore and was skipping rocks across the river.
"How come I didn't notice him before?"
Similarly, his other clones were all hindered. One was about to grab some berries when Kazuya magically appeared in front of him and took them. Another was reaching for a few wild onions, but Kazuya somehow chose that location to practice his earth manipulation and destroyed them.
Dandin's main body zipped through the trees until he spotted a wild boar. He was about to attack it when Kazuya, smiling, loudly walked through the forest and scared it away.
"...I get it..." Dandin quickly figured out that he was still being tested. Kazuya was going to make breakfast hard to prepare.
Then one of his clones dispelled himself and he received its memories. "He has clones interfering with my clones as well." Dandin smiled, "good. This will be fun."
He flickered after the boar.
Meanwhile, Kazuya's real body sat on a log. He used his chakra field, which was a sensor ninja's way of detecting people, to observe Dandin's progress and smiled. Then he wove a few hand signs and created seven earth clones. They shot in all directions and disappeared into the forest.
"Dandin's not bad. Let's see how he handles a little pressure. I think the boar over there will need some strong support."
A few hundred meters away Dandin flickered after the boar. It wasn't hard to catch up to, the animal was far slower than he was, but he had no chance to attack it. Every time he threw his kunai, tried to get close to punch it, or created a lightning jutsu to zap it Kazuya would appear and deflect his attacks or "accidentally" bump into him, the boar, a random branch or whatever else could cause havoc. The result was he missed. The casual way Kazuya move was very comical.
Whoosh!
Dandin darted through the forest. He had one purpose, to kill the boar!
"Now!" Dandin used body flicker with his sword drown. He aimed for the boar's heart, but before he could make it to the boar Kazuya 'happened' to pick a flower and hit Dandin with his butt. The poor boy was nudged off course and sailed over the top of the boar.
