Mujin realized that he was about to die and he had no time to perform any jutsu. He only had enough time to curl his body into a ball and reinforce his chakra barrier as much as possible.
Bang!
Multiple earth spears struck Mujin at the same time. He felt intense pain as the spears broke through his skin and embedded themselves into his muscles.
"I'm... not dead." Mujin's body had stopped the spikes, but he was still injured. They had buried themselves in his flesh, but none of them caused fatal injuries.
He formed a few hand signs, and an explosion of electricity destroyed the nearby earth spears.
Mujin landed on the ground. Fresh blood flowed all over his body, but he ignored that and flashed towards the Tetsu Chunin.
The Tetsu Chunin was just as surprised as Mujin. After using the majority of his chakra he felt weak and he reacted slowly to Mujin's advance.
For the first time in the fight Mujin was able to close distance.
He threw out a punch to the Chunin's face. The Chunin ducked and narrowly avoided the attack.
Mujin instantly followed the first attack with a second punch, then a chop, and a spinning back elbow.
The enemy Chunin dodged the second punch but he couldn't dodge the chop and was struck in the neck. As he tensed from the pain Mujin's spinning back elbow struck him on the top of his head. Blood came out of his ears and eyes and his head was slammed into the ground.
Mujin drew a kuni and stabbed it into the back of the Chunin's head.
"Hah... Hah..."
His breath was heavy, but he finally killed the pesky Chunin.
He moved his tired body and scanned his surroundings. His team was still in trouble and if he could he needed to help them.
"I have 40% of my chakra left. My body is heavily injured, but I can still go a few rounds."
He heard a large explosion to his right. Then there were a few smaller explosions which seemed to be from the same battlefield.
"That's as good of a direction as any."
Mujin ran towards the fight and the rain continued to pour from the sky.
It took him several minutes to reach the battlefield. This part of the forest was on fire and there were several uprooted trees and scattered piles of dirt that stood as testaments to how brutal the battle was.
It only took Mujin a few seconds to find the ninjas that were battling each other. It was Yoko and Komatsu facing off against seven Tetsu Nin.
As Mujin scanned the field he saw several bodies on the ground. He wasn't able to identify any of them except for one. It was Kenji's body. Kenji was the youngest member of their team and the most promising Chunin of them all. It was a tragedy that he'd died.
Mujin buried the sorrow he felt and concentrated on the battle. He carefully analyzed the enemy's strength.
The two sides clashed with powerful Jutsu. Komatsu launched fireballs and Yoko used wind jutsu to enhance them. Their teamwork was good and they forced the Tetsu ninjas to stay on the defensive.
Most of the enemies were earth users. One, who appeared to be a Chunin, was a water user and he tried to counter Komatsu's fire jutsu. He shot water bullets and created water walls to stall and weaken Komatsu's jutsus. The others used earth jutsu to completely counter what the water user failed to defend against. At the same time two of the other ninjas tried to flank and snipe at Komatsu and Yoko.
