"I thought you hated hugs" , I voiced out as he wrapped his arms ever so gently around me.
"I still do, but hugs from you are an exception", he pulled me closer, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

Being an Engineer can be tough.
Even if you love the job, like I do, you will sometimes still regret the 9 to 6 grind which isn't just limited to those many hours. It may still follow me home, stretching late into the night. Sure, there are professions way tougher, and we engineers do get the weekends free to "party our asses off" like my colleagues would quote. But I am not a clubbing person. Plus lately, everyone seemed to be too busy to hang out. Diya was swamped with her medical residency, juggling between the morning and night shifts and Meera and Harsh were, of course, still in their honeymoon phase and well Sahil, he might be partying at some overpriced lounge - bro was a social butterfly. But there was no denying that when it came to work, he was a dedicated freak.
So basically , I was stuck with the only company that I had - Veer. But he too was busy.
Tonight wasn't the weekend where I could just lounge around or catch up on Netflix & chill with Veer. Instead I had to gear up for a client call at freaking eleven pm because the clients that me and my team were dealing with were based in the United States. But I wasn't complaining. Successful delivery of the asked product by my team would open the door for something I had been dreaming about - working in New York City. I had to give it my all.
The clock on my screen read exactly 10:00 pm. Well, I still had an hour with me but I knew better than to relax. It was usually in the final stretch that my team pinged me with questions, bugs or last minute issues in the code. And tonight wasn't any different. I was staring at my laptop screen while I sat on my desk in my room, waiting for my team members' calls.
Just as I was about to get up for a washroom break, my phone buzzed on the desk. I was half-expecting a work-related message but it wasn't. My face lit up as his cute name flashed on my screen.
