Everyone's dream is to wake up next to the man they love, right ? To be greeted by the soft whispers of affection, waking up to the warmth of their presence. That's the least thing I expected after I slept beside Veer last night. But guess what? Instead of the sweet nothings, I was startled awake by the blaring sound of my alarm. Not the romantic morning I had imagined.

I groaned, stretching out my hand to grab my phone and snooze the alarm. After putting off the alarm, I turned to his side, expecting to see his handsome face but the sheets were cold. Veer wasn't there ! I got up from the bed, rubbing my eyes to wash off the remnants of sleep as I leaned against the headboard. I called out his name but there was no response.

Just then a note on the bedside table caught my eye, resting beside my phone. The frown on my forehead was replaced by a bright smile on my lips as I read the note.

"Sorry ! Had to leave for work early. Didn't want to wake you up. Take care."

Veer's handwriting was quick, almost impatient. It felt as if he wanted to leave before I could wake up. Without a second thought, I grabbed my phone and my fingers hovered over the screen, desperate to call Veer. The anticipation of hearing his voice bubbled in my stomach but to my disappointment, the call was left unanswered. Okay, maybe he really had an important meeting.

Taking a quick look at the time, I decided to head towards my house as I couldn't afford being late for my work. Because reaching on time meant, I could return back home, to Veer , early. Yeah, that was my motivation for getting up and going to work.

Heading towards the washroom, I first collected my discarded clothes from yesterday and made my way back towards my house after locking his door.

Guess, I had to wait for another nine hours to see his handsome face.

Eleven calls and five messages.

All left unanswered.

I had been dialing Veer's number since I came to my office but each one of them went straight to voicemail. I had tried messaging him too but they too had been left unattended.

Why wasn't he picking up my calls?

Since the morning, for some odd reason, I had this really unsettling feeling in the pit of my stomach that something wasn't right. I had pushed it aside, thinking that it might be one of those days where one feels low out of nowhere and Veer not picking up my calls wasn't helping either. It was just adding up to my anxiety.
