It had been nearly a month since Y/n agreed to let Wanda and Agatha adopt her. The day of the official paperwork was finally here, and even though the ceremony would be a private affair, Y/n's nerves were running high. She had spent so long feeling like a temporary part of their world that it was hard to believe this was really happening. But every time she looked into Wanda's and Agatha's eyes, she saw nothing but love, making her heart swell.
That morning, the compound was buzzing with quiet excitement. Agatha and Wanda had arranged for a small legal ceremony, with just a few close Avengers present as witnesses. Y/n stood in front of the mirror in her room, staring at her reflection. She wore a simple yet elegant dress that Agatha had picked out-a deep burgundy that made Y/n's magic shimmer beneath her skin.
There was a knock at the door, and Y/n turned to see Wanda standing in the doorway, a soft smile on her face. She was dressed in a deep red outfit as if to match Y/n, and her scarlet magic pulsed subtly in the air around her.
"How are you feeling?" Wanda asked, stepping inside and leaning against the doorframe.
Y/n gave a small, nervous laugh. "I don't know... excited? Scared? Both?"
Wanda smiled warmly and walked over to her, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "It's okay to feel both. Today's a big day. But I want you to know something, Y/n. Agatha and I-we're not just doing this because we feel responsible for you. We're doing this because we love you."
Y/n met Wanda's eyes, their sincerity making her chest tighten. "I know," she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. "I just... I still can't believe this is happening."
Wanda chuckled softly, brushing a strand of hair behind Y/n's ear. "Believe it. You're our daughter now, officially and in every way that matters."
The word "daughter" still felt foreign, but hearing it from Wanda filled Y/n with a warmth she hadn't known before. She smiled up at her, her nerves slowly melting away. "Thank you," she said softly. "For everything."
Wanda's eyes glistened with unshed tears, and she pulled Y/n into a tight hug. "You don't have to thank us," she whispered. "We're just so happy you're a part of our family."
The ceremony was held in a quiet room at the Avengers Compound, away from the usual hustle and bustle. Y/n, Wanda, and Agatha stood before a lawyer who had been brought in to make everything official. The only others in the room were a few members of the Avengers: Natasha, Maria, and Clint, who had all become like family to Y/n over the past few years.
As the lawyer read through the formalities, Y/n's mind drifted. She thought about how far she had come since the day the Avengers had rescued her from Hydra's clutches. She thought about the cold, sterile cells she had been kept in and how it had felt to have her powers used against her will. She thought about the fear, the anger, and the hopelessness that had once consumed her. But now, standing between Wanda and Agatha, those memories felt distant, like a different lifetime.
She was no longer the girl Hydra had tried to shape her into. She was Y/n-strong, powerful, and loved.
"Do you, Wanda Maximoff, and Agatha Harkness, agree to legally adopt Y/n and take on all responsibilities as her legal guardians?" the lawyer asked, bringing Y/n back to the present moment.
Wanda and Agatha both smiled and without hesitation, they answered together. "Yes."
"And Y/n, do you agree to be adopted by Wanda and Agatha, recognizing them as your legal guardians and family?"
Y/n's heart pounded in her chest. She glanced at Wanda and Agatha, both of whom were looking at her with such love and warmth that she felt her breath catch.
"I do," she said, her voice steady but filled with emotion.
With a few more signatures and formalities, it was done. The adoption was official.
Agatha let out a lighthearted sigh of relief. "Well, kid, it looks like you're stuck with us now."
Y/n laughed, the weight of the moment filling her with joy. "I wouldn't have it any other way."
Natasha, Maria, and Clint clapped softly, coming forward to congratulate the newly-formed family. Natasha hugged Y/n first, squeezing her tightly.
"Welcome to the family, officially," Natasha said, her voice soft but full of warmth. "I'm really proud of you, Y/n."
Y/n smiled, feeling the tears prick at her eyes again. "Thank you, Natasha."
One by one, her friends offered their congratulations, and Y/n felt overwhelmed with love and happiness. She had always known that Wanda and Agatha cared about her, but this was something deeper, more profound. This was family in the truest sense.
Later that evening, after the guests had left and the compound had quieted down, Y/n sat with Wanda and Agatha in the living room. They were all curled up on the couch, a sense of calm and contentment settling over them.
Agatha, who had been relatively quiet during the ceremony, finally spoke up. "You know, Y/n, when we first met you, I never thought we'd end up here."
Y/n raised an eyebrow, curious. "What do you mean?"
Agatha smiled, her eyes soft. "I mean, I never thought I'd be adopting a teenager. I've been around for a long time, and I've always been... well, let's say, independent. But when I saw you, I saw something of myself in you. Someone who had been through so much and yet had so much potential. I knew you needed guidance, but more than that... I realized you needed a family."
Wanda nodded in agreement, her hand resting gently on Y/n's. "We both did."
Y/n looked between the two of them, her heart swelling with gratitude. "I don't know what I would have done without you both," she admitted. "You saved me."
Agatha chuckled. "You saved yourself, kid. We just gave you the tools to do it."
Y/n smiled, feeling a sense of peace she hadn't known in years. She leaned into Wanda's side, closing her eyes as the warmth of the room and the love of her family surrounded her.
For the first time in her life, Y/n felt truly at home. And she knew no matter what challenges lay ahead, she would face them with Wanda and Agatha by her side.
They were a family now. And that was all that mattered.
