Y/n lay in bed, her head pounding and nose stuffed up, wishing she could just fast-forward to when this cold was over. Everything ached, and the tissues on her nightstand were quickly piling up into a small mountain.
"Mija, how are you feeling?" Rio's gentle voice came from the doorway. Y/n turned her head slightly to see her standing there with a vial in hand, her wand tucked into her pocket.
"Like I've been hit by a truck," Y/n croaked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Rio walked over and perched on the edge of the bed, her eyes full of concern. "I thought this might help." She held up the glowing vial, a faint golden shimmer inside swirling lazily.
Y/n eyed it warily. "What is it?"
"Just a little spell to clear up your congestion," Rio replied with a reassuring smile. "Trust me, it'll work."
Y/n raised an eyebrow. "You said that last time, and my hair turned purple for three days."
"That was one time!" Rio protested though she laughed softly at the memory. "This one's different. It's just a sip."
With a sigh, Y/n accepted the vial and took a small sip. The warmth spread through her chest, and for a moment, she thought it might actually work.
Then her nose twitched.
Her eyes widened. "Oh no-"
She sneezed, and a burst of golden light shot out, scattering the tissues all over the room. A few even floated up and stuck to the ceiling.
"Oops," Rio said sheepishly, quickly waving her wand to dissipate the lingering magic.
Y/n groaned, sinking back into her pillows. "Mom..."
Before Rio could respond, Agatha appeared in the doorway, carrying a tray with a bowl of steaming soup. "Still trying the magical remedies, I see?" she teased, setting the tray down with a raised eyebrow.
Rio crossed her arms, giving her wife a playful glare. "I'm just trying to help."
Agatha smiled and turned her attention to Y/n. "And I brought something a little more traditional. Chicken soup-no spells attached."
Y/n sat up a little, and the warmth of the soup was already making her feel slightly better. "Thanks," she mumbled, reaching for the spoon.
Rio got up to give Agatha some space but couldn't resist a parting shot. "Well, while you handle the soup, I'll go grab some extra blankets. Without magic."
Agatha chuckled, taking a seat beside Y/n as Rio left the room. "She means well, you know."
Y/n nodded, sipping the soup. "I know."
Agatha picked up a brush from the nightstand and began gently running it through Y/n's hair. The familiar, soothing motion instantly relaxed her, melting away the tension in her shoulders.
"You know," Agatha began, a teasing glint in her eye, "this reminds me of when you were nine and got the flu right before the school talent show."
Y/n groaned, already knowing where this was going. "Please don't..."
"Oh, I'm telling it," Agatha said with a grin. "You were determined to perform, even though you were running a fever and could barely stand up. You insisted on doing your magic act, and Rio convinced the principal to let you perform on video instead."
Y/n covered her face with her hands, laughing softly. "That was so embarrassing."
Agatha smiled, brushing Y/n's hair with care. "You were adorable, though. Halfway through your act, you sneezed, and the rabbit you were supposed to pull out of the hat ended up hopping across the stage."
"I forgot my wand movements," Y/n mumbled through her fingers. "The rabbit got away."
"You got a standing ovation anyway," Agatha reminded her, a hint of pride in her voice. "Even sick, you were a star."
Y/n couldn't help but smile. "I was a mess."
Agatha chuckled. "You still are, but we wouldn't have it any other way."
Just then, Rio returned with an armful of blankets, carefully tucking them around Y/n. "There we go," she said, smoothing out the edges. "Nice and cozy."
Y/n wiggled deeper into the warmth, feeling a little better, even if her body still ached. "Thanks, Mom," she murmured, her voice thick with affection.
Rio leaned down and kissed the top of her head. "Anytime, mija."
Agatha put the brush down and glanced at the window, where the afternoon light was starting to dim. "You know, I think we could all use a little break from the day. How about we move to the big bed and watch a movie?"
Y/n perked up at the suggestion. "Can we watch The Princess Diaries?"
Rio laughed softly. "Of course, that's your go-to."
"Classic comfort movie," Y/n said with a small smile. "It always makes me feel better."
Agatha and Rio helped Y/n to her feet, wrapping her up in the extra blankets like a cocoon. Together, they made their way to the master bedroom, where Agatha had already set up an array of pillows and blankets, creating a soft, cozy nest.
Y/n climbed into the middle, snuggling between her two moms, who settled on either side of her. Agatha waved her hand, and the TV flickered to life, the familiar opening scenes of The Princess Diaries playing across the screen.
Y/n leaned her head against Rio's shoulder, feeling the warmth of her mother's arm wrap around her. On the other side, Agatha gently stroked her hair, her touch as soothing as ever.
As the movie played on, Y/n found herself drifting in and out of sleep, the comfort of her moms and the cozy atmosphere lulling her into a sense of peace. She might be sick, but at that moment, with Agatha brushing her hair and Rio holding her close, she felt incredibly lucky.
"I really am the luckiest," Y/n mumbled sleepily.
Agatha leaned down, kissing her daughter's forehead. "We're the lucky ones."
Rio smiled, pulling the blankets up tighter around Y/n. "Love you, Mija."
Y/n's eyelids fluttered shut as she sank deeper into the warmth, a soft smile on her lips. "Love you too..."
And with that, she drifted off to sleep, wrapped in the love and care of her two moms.
