NOT YET, NOT NOW

Last night was truly weird. I got hooked by our conversation. As a consequence, today, I am going to school unprepared and sleepy again. I also learned that last night was her birthday; her 22nd birthday. The way she speaks though, it seems like she’s a foreigner or something. She’s too formal… well it’s rare to see people like her these days… better visit Francesco later to ask him some questions.

“You looked pale Elmo.” Percy said.

“I wasn’t able to sleep that much.” Elmo complained.

“Your grandpa used to tell me that, Early to be bed, Early to rise, makes Jack happy and wise!”

“Dad I am not Jack.”

Percy laughed “You still got your humor even you look unhealthy.” Percy played with his son’s hair.

“Here, eat your breakfast; you’ll be needing energy during your class.” Loree said.

“Princess Julieanne? Rise and shine! Thou will be having a visitor today.” Thomas greeted.

“Oh, not now Thomas, I am still sleepy.”

“I am sorry thy highness, but thou father insists that I should wake thee.Thou art going to meet thy Fiancé.”

“What?! When was I Betrothed?”

“Last night, the King talked to a delegate from the Turks.”

“This is not happening!” Julieanne get off of her bed.

I can’t believe this! Father is making decisions all by himself again! We already talked about this. Hasn’t he forgotten Mother’s words regarding my marriage? I bet Father was being pressured by the Bishop again, that old man!

At the King’s Chamber

“Father!” Julieanne raised her voice.

“Good morning my dear daughter!”

“Father what does this mean?”

“Of what?”

“Of thee, betrothing me!”

“Calm down my daughter. Wilhelm of the Ottoman Turks is a good man! He is a warrior and a leader! He is perfectly the best groom for thee!”

“Father, have you forgotten thy promise to Mother’s words? We will not follow this tradition anymore right?”

“Julieanne, the kingdom needs a male ruler, and I might not see him if I’ll just let thee follow thy desire. Sometimes, promises have to be broken for the good of the people. Isn’t this what you always tell me? To think of the greatest good for the greatest number?”

“Father! I don’t even know this lad!”

Trumpets began to resonate all over the courtyard.

“Prince Wilhelm of the Ottoman Empire!” A Royal guard announced.

“Julieanne, this is for the good of all…”

“But father…”

Wilhelm proceeded inside the castle and kneeled before the King and kissed my hand. “Even on your royal night dress, you are still vibrant and beautiful milady.” Wilhelm greeted.

I immediately removed my hand from him “Thank you Wilhelm.”

Then Wilhelm’s soldiers made a synchronized march behind Wilhelm. The captain stepped out beside Wilhelm and Read a paper.
