PAINT A PICTURE

It’s been a month now since I met Francesco and Sir Elmo. Almost every day I go to Francesco’s little house and listen to his stories or watch him paint pictures. He also explained to me who he really is and that my marriage with Wilhelm was a “historical mistake”. It truly amazes me how our choices could affect others and the course of history. Francesco always says that our choices have the “butterfly effect” but I really do not understand what it is. Another thing that makes me curious is why Francesco chose Sir Elmo and me for this task. All the old man says is that everything was just a coincidence. But why do I have a feeling that it is not?

“Good morning Princess Julieanne!” Thomas greeted “Rise and shine thy highness! The King is already waiting for thee. He wants some of the special bread that thou baked before.”

My father also craved for those doughnuts ever since I used it to bri… convince him in nullifying my marriage. As a consequence I always should wake up early to bake him some. I really do not know if these are what Sir Elmo mean by ‘Breads with a hole in the middle’. They still the same bread our bakers make so I do not understand why father wanted it so badly.

“But Thomas I am tired.” Julieanne whined.

“Thy highness still has her humor even when she’s still sleepy.”

“Thhhhoooommmmaaassss…”

“I am sorry Princess but thou leave me no choice.” Thomas grinned.

“Don’t take my pillows!” Julieanne frowned “Alright, but I want thee to carry me on your back!” Julieanne grinned.

“Princess I am already old and thou art not a little girl anymore.” Thomas complained.

“Please!”

“Julieanne, have pity on the old man. He can’t carry thee anymore like when thou art a kid.” Manfred intruded.

“Father!” Julieanne blushed.

“Get up now Julienne.” Manfred ordered.

“But I am still sle…”

“QUICK MARCH!” Manfred playfully ordered.

“Thy always spoil the fun Father.” Julieanne scratched her head.

After breakfast I asked father if I could go out again to scout all over the kingdom. Good thing he allowed me again. But the truth is I’ll just visit Francesco again and watch him paint his portraits.

At Francesco’s Hut

“Looks like you enjoyed this place Princess Julieanne.”

“Indeed sir Francesco. I find this place magical.”

“Magical?” Francesco laughs, “What’s magical about a farm with animals and some paintings?”

“I do not know but every time I see thy portraits, especially those about me and Sir Elmo, I feel like these pictures are real.”

“They are the truth Princess. Everything that you see here is a part of our whole history. Here, I am sure you can recognize this easily.”

“(She laughs) oh it is me, Father, Wilhelm and… is that sir Elmo?”

“Yea! This is about what you two did when Wilhelm offered you his hand.”

“I like the way you draw Wilhelm crying. He doesn’t look like a Prince there.”
